Screens that are too big are a huge hurdle for me getting a new phone. 4.3 inches was too much, and now they are taking it in the wrong direction! I have these things called "pockets", and while I'm not a ball squeezer wearing emo kid, they do have a limited capacity. I would actually like to be able to sit down comfortably. 3.5" screens continue to work just fine for me. Looks like I'll be sticking with my good old Nexus S.

It's a matter of preference. My previous phone was the Nexus One, which was 3.5-3.7in, now I'm using a SGS2 which is 4.3in and I find it to be the perfect size for me, I would never go back to a smaller screen. And I don't even have huge hands!

I have a 4.3" Galaxy S2 and love the display! I used to have an iPhone 4S with the "retina" screen. I'll take 4.3" over 3.5" any day - even with the lower pixel density.

Small screen are lame!, I love the 4.3 on the Galaxy SII and would LOVE the 4.8 on III. My brother has an Iphone and I don't care how crisp the tiny screen is, it just looks low-tech and lame compared to my phone! Apple will go up, you watch, any adult hand can handle the 4.8 easily. Mine fits in a normal case, in my front and back pocket, so wrong direction, is smaller, unless its going into a pair of glasses!

"If this trend continues, you could be sporting a 7-inch tablet as a phone soon."

I see people doing that already, opting for a 7" tablet instead of buying both a smartphone and a ~10" tablet.

As for myself, I have the Samsung Galaxy Ace, but would love to have been able to afford the SII (or now the SIII). Most of my friends have the iPhone. Asside from the screen resolution, there's no huge advantage to the iPhone than my Ace and the Ace was 1/3 the cost.

Good Lord, another Fanboy writing a meaningless article. Get over it. iOS isn't the only game in town. I'd like to know how many people have had to replace their retina screens because it was dropped. Those screens crack on a dime. I own a shipping store and have seen many iphone go in for repair because the screen cracked. I've dropped my S2 numerous times and not a scratch. I don't have any of those protective suites on my phone. I like it light and thin. I have a S2 and my wife has Iphone4s. Next to each other, the S2 has richer and deeper colors. If you want to count pixels or pen tiles go right ahead. I know what I see. And let's see in 5 years how far Amoled technology goes as opposed to LCD, which I believe is a dying technology. The S2 feels great and not too big at all. The 4s screen is way too small. The next IPhone will have a bigger screen or it will die out quickly. The idea that Samsung will take the handset to 7" is simply stupid. What will happen is the phones will no longer have home buttons thereby utilizing that space as the screen. Just because you're in love with your Iphone doesn't mean you should be shouting out dumb idea that will never happen. Keep your iOS Daniel and I'll hold on to my bigger and better android. At least with Samsung and the other android vendors you get a choice of screen size and features. With iphone, Apple thinks and chooses for you.

Everything has a limit.While some can/will use larger than 4.3, i think that 4.3 will/should/is the desired limit for ''smartphones''

For devices like the note with a pen bundled i think screen size isnt an issue.

Just another example of stupid small thinking on the Android side of things. You can be sure to see some idiot with a 5 " phone buried in his face trying to act like they like it, while looking like a fool. It's a phone, bigger is not better. People don't want to watch a movie on their phones. Not really. Don't fall for that one.

It's too bad razor thin phones are .5 thicker and have physical keyboards. Why not make an option on the phones for a physical keyboard inclusion? what would be so hard about that?

Let's disect this enlighting comment, shall we? I love the irony of starting an extremely fanboyish comment by calling out the author for being a fanboy. Very entertaining. Then you move onto a series of anecdotal statements that have pretty much no value beyond your opinions. My guess is that in 5 years Apple will still be making ridiculous amounts of money selling iPhones. And Mr. Android fanboy, Apple doesn't think or choose for me. If I like their product, I'll buy and use it. If not, I won't. If I prefer a smaller phone, what's it to you? I also get a phone that gets timely OS upgrades, plenty of apps, reliable and easy to use software, freedom from viruses and decent support. And to me [opinion alert], the sharper display is worth more than a bigger one. Please enjoy your phone. I'll enjoy mine.

I for one am certainly looking forward to the S3, I've been using a 3.2inch screen on an optimus v for 14 months now, enough is enough, after age 40 your eyes change dramatically. Time for a large screen :}

Actually I do watch movies... well, at least favorite scenes (like the car chase scenes in Bullitt, The French Connection, Ronin, etc) on my iPod touch. I also watch music vids, sports vids and even have a Keynote version of my art portfolio on the Touch. Perfect size for carrying in my pocket, and for watching in bed. The iDevice I'd like to see enlarged would be the iPad.

As far as I'm concerned, PCWorld reviews all products fairly. But they are often accused, in turn, of being paid by Google, Apple, Microsoft... whomever. Fanboys abound. They occupy both sides of the fence.

And that tired old crack about Apple users not being able to think for themselves is just juvenile nonsense. Your opinions will never have weight if you insist that people are stupid for using a product other than what you use.
