Several years ago I purchased an HP OfficeJet All In One printer 7310. For 5 and a half years it worked flawlessly.

Then, earlier this year an online "update" to the printer was initiated.

Since then I am unable to use the photocopier function when the cover is open. When the cover is open ALL functions and settings are disabled, and two error messages are given, one to close the cover. This IS a flawed HP update and was put into the software intentionally.

Copying large items requires the cover to remain open while copying. This can no longer be done. All that can be copied now are pieces of paper and small books. Anything larger, such as large book or a box cover cannot be copied.

HP reps refuse to fix the problem. All I want is for the printer I purchased to work as I purchased it. I don't want a new printer, I want this one to work as it did for years. Except for this new problem introduced by an HP update, it works fine.

Warning to anyone buying an HP printer: NEVER ever apply any HP updates to it, IF you want to continue to use what you purchased in the manner it was supposed to work. Better, yet, there are many other brands to consider and I strongly suggest buying one of them instead.
