I am trying to trace the member who posted information about VHS to DVD in the PC TV section, about January?
I would like to know how it was set up, since I have a similar combination of gadgets, but can't transfer the Video tapes to
my PC, even though I have the correct USB device, etc. He was using Honestech software and device,I beieve.

Anyone help, please?

I've used a Haupage card with video capture and a USB capture device by Pinnacle. This allowed me to get the composite video output from a VHS machine into a PC. Then it wasn't too much of a trick to get the selected video files burned to a DVD. There are now newer devices that support HD format too. I do also use a stand alone VHS to DVD recorder but it is actually harder to work with on shorter clips but is ideal for making whole copies of two hour VHS tapes. I've transposed ovet a thousand hours of VHS-C this way, and once on the DVD the manipulation becomes easier.

It easy to copy VHS that you recorded yourself to PC, but if its a store bought tape the copy protection will bugger it up.

BUT if you hook the VHS to a TV tuner card you can capture with then the tape thinks its hooked up to a TV and copy protection is no problem.
