Hi and welcome to the forums. First if your Budget can handle it, go with the 2600k ( if you don't have to have HT than go with the i5 2500k ). Another good option would be the Intel Ivy Bridge i5 2570k. You can not use that motherboard. You need a socket 1155 mother board for either the 2600k or 2570k. You can gowith the ASUS P8Z77-VPro or one other the other ASUS Z77 Mother boards. Although the Video card is good, You may want to look at the Nvidia GTX 560Ti . You didn't say whatyour budget was, so I just threw a few things out to consider.

Thank you for the feedback, and the welcome. About the budget. I'm still in the phase of finding components, not price taging them, but yeah i can go for a budget of 1200$. If I might ask, whats wrong with the AMD 4100 3.6 GHz 4-core processor that you recommend the Intel instead? just curious.

Hi. In a word, Performance. AMD is still behind the curve when it comes to that stuff and if you are a gamer, you want all the performance to be all you can get. It will take a a little time, but I think I can throw a good package together for you to look at and within the $1200 budget.

Ok, Here is something you could be happy with : http://secure.newegg...oppingCart.aspx The total comes to $1,136.91 + $17.44 shipping ( In my case, as that can vary with the zip code ). There are $55 in mail in rebates that will reduce that price should you chose to use them. There is some wiggle room. You could go with the Intel i5 2500k Processor ( http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819115072 ) which would save $30.

Coastie, that only links to the generic newegg shopping list page, which is storing stuff with cookies on your machine - the rest of us can't see that.

Anyway, for games, just about ANY Intel Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge processor kicks the ass off any AMD FX machine (bulldozer) in terms of performance. Even the Pentium.

Not bad - the only thing is that I would go for a cheaper ODD (I think there's an asus for $18 or so) and many not such a powerful PSU.

Also, I don't know if he needs an OS. (remember, win7 home premium 64-bit oem is $100.) I think the regular evga 560ti is a little cheaper.

Brian, don't hold back, tell us what you really think.

:D :D

Brian's right, with your budget go for the intel.

Currently I'm in the process of leaving the AMD platform for an intel.

If you live near a microcenter store, www.microcenter.com, they have an intel 3570 for $190, but it's an instore only puirchase.

We know you have an aversion to anything over 500w, but with the price of the PSU, may as well go for it and have some headroom. Remember that thing is Full Modular as well as 80+ Silver Certified. Not bad for $124.

I think that Amazon has an ASUS P8Z77-V LX and Intel Core i5-3570K Bundle for $349. Saves around a hundred bucks. http://www.amazon.co...36606289&sr=8-2

Hey Nonseq, Yeah, but that MOBO is a bit iffy due to a lack of heat sinks in several places.

I think that Amazon has an ASUS P8Z77-V LX and Intel Core i5-3570K Bundle for $349. Saves around a hundred bucks. http://www.amazon.co...36606289&sr=8-2

As coastie mentioned, that's a cheaper version of the motherboard he mentioned. (it's $134 by itself on amazon)

Ok:

Motherboard : ASUS P8Z77-V - $199.99
CPU : Intel i5 3570k - $249.99 ( you can got with the Intel i5 2500k and save $30 here )
Memory: GSkill Ares 8Gb ( 2 x4Gb ) - $57.99
CPU Cooler: Gelid Tranquillo - $39.99
Video Card: EVGA Nvidia GTX 560Ti Super clocked - $249.99 ( you can go with the 550Ti and save here )
PSU: Siverstone ST 75F-P 750w Full modular, 80+ Certified Silver - $123.99
Optical drive : LiteOn iHAS424-98 - $24.99
Case: Cooler Master HAF 922 RC-922MKKN1-GP - $79.99
Hdd: Samsung Spinpoint F3 - $109.99

Total is $1,136.91 + some shipping ( $17.44 in my case ). There are an additonal $55 in mail in rebates that will take some off of that total as well.

We know you have an aversion to anything over 500w, but with the price of the PSU, may as well go for it and have some headroom. Remember that thing is Full Modular as well as 80+ Silver Certified. Not bad for $124.

The price for that specific PSU seems high to me.

That OCZ is $110 and has a $20 MIR.

If the op doesn't mind going 600 watts, then PC power and cooling MKIII is going for $90 and also has a $20 MIR. Can't beat a $70 PC Power and Cooling PSU that is also modular.

Yeah, they're fine and could cut some of the cost without sacrificing quality & performance. The PC Power & Cooling has a 15% promo thing ( coupon ) to enter as well. Actually I thought the price on the Silverstone was pretty good. being Full Modular and 80+ Silver certified. Those two are good and can save some money though. :D

OK. I am going to have to go another way as I suspect he isn't in the U.S. and I have an idea of where he is, so going to have to look a little closer to home as Newegg doesn't ship overseas. I have a friend I can contact for suppliers, if I have problems, but I think she used amazon.de mostly for her stuff. That is where I got her cooler from.

He mentioned a budget in USD, so why would you suspect that he's in Deutschland?

The placement of the Dollar sign got my attention so I ran a check and it showed him in Germany. Normally I only check some spammers and sometimes if someone is looking for help on a build and I supect he is out of the country, I'll check as I did this time. Anyway, at $1200 USD that would put his budget somewhere between 900 & 950 Euros and then you have to factor in the 19% VAT. Last summer when getting that cooler for my friend, was the first time I had used German in a very long time and realized how much I had forgotten. I had an Aunt that was born and raised in Frankfurt, Germany. Had a headache by the time I got done. :D Geez, not only did I have to deal with the VAT, I also got charged a currency conversion fee. Anyway, this is going to be tricky. I'm going back in the morning and check again as I noticed some decent combos with that MOBO, Processor and memory, that would be helpful in trying to get a good solid build in on the budget.
