Hey All!

I am using a laptop PC running Windows 7. I would like to achieve a "power mode" with the following specifications:

If the lid is open, sleep after 20 minutes of idleness, but NEVER hibernate.

When lid is closed, sleep immediately. If lid remains closed for 2 minutes, hibernate.

I hope I have made myself pretty clear, but if you want more details, please ask!

Your help will be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

The first part: Click 'Change plan settings' next to the power plan, Sleep, and configure the sleep (standby) and hibernate settings.
Second part: I think there's an option to change what the closing the lid does on the left side of 'power options'. (I'm on my desktop right now so I can't check.) However, you can't have it automatically hibernate 2 minutes after closing the lid.

Thanks for the quick reply! It is quite unfortunate that I cannot achieve my original goal, but is the following possible:

If lid is open, sleep after 20 minutes. But never bibernate.

When lid is closed, don't bother with sleeping, but hibernate after 1 minute.

Once again, thank you for your prompt reply!

1st part: Yes.
2nd part: Not quite - I think you can have it sleep or hibernate immediately though, from what I'm seeing in screenshots. (I'm on the desktop right now, so I can't check.)

for all the power options you have to set up 2 groups, one for AC power and one for BATT power.

for <computer idle> you set up <turn off screen after -x min>, <sleep after - y min>, <hibernate after - z min> (with a possible option of <never> which is what you were looking for).

for <close lid> the action is immediate with choices of <nothing>(but the screen shuts off), <sleep>, <hibernate> or <shutdown> (sorry, you don't get 2 actions for this one).

you can also define the action of the <power> button, the <sleep> button/key stroke, the start menu power button and the base CPU speed and SCREEN brightness.

also in an advanced options menu you can set up other power saving options.

Can you tell me how to utilize these features in Windows 7 (how can I get to the dialog box in which I can enable/disable/configure the features)

Thanks!
