I'm sure they will work it out. As much as M$ wants to be restrictive, I'm sure they don't want to become as bad as Apple...the whole reason 85% of the interweb is from Windows.

The monopoly argument is false here. Microsoft has no monopoly in the tablet space - it barely has any presence at all. In the desktop and laptop spaces, Mozilla is entirely free to do what they want.

Now, should WOA tablets become the dominant platform, then they'll have an argument. Until then, this is just Mozilla chanting the same old anti-Microsoft rant.

They are talking about Windows RT or Windows for ARM based devices so its a moot point in your case. This doesn't affect any other releases of Windows 8. Just the ones that will be on tablets, phones, and maybe some ARM based laptops or desktops down the road.

IMO I'm not going to upgrade anyways. Don't care for the Metro styling and tiles on my desktop.

No matter, this only applies to RT, which like Win8, won't go anywhere.
Most users will stick with Win7 and MS will be left holding yet another dead O/S, like they did with Vista!!

So Mozilla's Browser works in iOS? Really? As for Vista; it sold more that OSX and still on more computers than any other OS besides XP and Windows 7

Firefox is a shill for Google and it is Google that doesn't want to be shut out of all those advertising revenues it hopes to get on Microsoft's platform.

Google does not want a repeat of what it suffered when Amazon took Android and modified it so that the Kindle Fire has effectively removed all Google influence.

Mozilla forget it. Go after MS and Apple, or neither one I use MS, Mozilla, IE 8, Windows 7, Win7.5 phone, Win 8 phone and OS soon. I do not use anything Apple. Google as little as possible. Not beholden to any vendor, just my free will choices.

Well does it matter? No to the Multi Millions of us that won't be using the New OS. I use Mozilla right along with IE, just i can do more with Mozilla, and it's a lot more stable.

It just shows that MS is really small minded when it comes to their user base and doesn't listen. Next they will be subjugating the people that make the third party apts, and telling them what they can develop and what they can't.

I used to use Google for everything, till privacy meant nothing to them. I don't use it or their search engines any more if at all possible.

And the majority of those that bought Vista, went back to XP till Windows 7 came out. I still have a copy of Vista and used it on one machine for a year,( It's and extremely Bloated OS even after they fixed it ) and as soon as i could i went to Windows 7 on that Machine. There are a lot of people that still use XP and will continue to do so even after Windows 8 comes out. Just like those on Windows 7, Many will try it and go right back to what works for them.

I actually have IE 9, Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari on all my computers.

What's the big deal? They all work.

BTW, I probably won't bother to mess with Windows 8. Too many complaints, and it looks like this will be another Windows ME/Windows Vista.

Apple Ipad is taking the world by storm with millions of them selling, but it does not concern him that he cannot have Firefox on the Ipad. The big thing right now is the tablet. Apple have two years of selling the tablet, but instead of making Apple compatible with Firefox, he is getting upset with Microsoft. This is what I consider a hater.

Of course, he might see the writing on the wall. When Windows 8 comes out on tablet, it might relegate the Ipad as something of the past. But then, who can predict the future?

The worst part he is crying for nothing. Windows 8 RT will only affect tablet running on ARM chips on the Metro interface. Windows 8 will come for desktop, laptop and tablet. Of these only the tablet running in ARM chip will block Firefox. A small amount, since most Enterprise will but tablets with Intel chip which do not have this restriction.

Mozilla has to drop the use of JAVA, and switch to Mono (C#). C# was shown to be multiple times lower in overhead than Java, and probably more secure.

Mozilla browser is slow, due to long execution path lengths, though it offers a lot of featured add-ons to allow a user extra functionalty not found in the basic browser itself.

I agree with you on the first part of your argument but not the last part. "Now, should WOA tablets become the dominant platform, then they'll have an argument."

Microsoft did say one of the reasons it won't open up the Win32 API's is because of security. This makes me Wonder IF Microsoft did open up the API's would Windows RT be more vulnerable than if they didn't? Some people will think that Microsoft is doing this to revert back to their old ways, but what if that's not true? What is Microsoft suppose to do let other companies use the Win32 API's and then what? If it does open up holes in the OS say "I told you so" when its to late? Microsoft could explain better, and maybe they'll have to to get Mozilla and Google to back off.

I don't see the big deal, Windows RT is for ARM tablets and touch devices whats the big deal about making Chrome and Firefox desktop apps? How many people are even going to open IE on the desktop? If Microsoft took desktop IE out of RT I don't think it would be missed. I know maybe a company will make cheap Windows RT laptops or slim desktops but who's going to buy them? If a kid gets a Windows RT laptop for his birthday, he/she would probably be really depressed because its not Windows and he/she wouldn't be able to run a any other Windows programs. And some will say maybe Windows RT should run Windows programs? No, I don't think so, its a tablet OS. I would rather Windows RT just have needed Windows tools run on the desktop and not even have IE10 or Office. Microsoft should have made Metro Office apps anyway (maybe they will but they wanted to concentrate on Windows 8 and RT first?).

Its one thing to have desktop on Windows 8 which is going to be a platform for tablet, laptops and desktop PC's, but Windows RT should be only for tablets. Of course also people are going to have keyboard docks, but I think if someone is going to do major work they're going to want to run Windows x32 or x64 programs (and more than just Office) and they should buy a Windows 8 tablet. Windows RT should for more consumer minded people and maybe businesses that can do without desktop apps, so if Windows RT has all the apps you need to run your business great, if not get Windows 8. I think mostly regular consumers who buy Android tablets and iPads will buy a Windows RT device anyway.

To really get into the topic of the story though, I also ask why isn't Mozilla pestering Apple? Because they're not a monopoly? Come on now, Apple is suing every company that makes Google products they can because they see Android is a major contender. Until Windows 8,RT and Windows Phone products start making a real dent in Apples bottom line they'll leave them alone, but mark my word as soon as Microsoft tablets and phones become a threat to Apple they'll start suing because that's what Apple does best.

If Mozilla is going to keep going through with this then they should go after Apple because I think if one OS is made to do something then they should all live up to that standard to keep real competition moving. Right now Safari is the only browser on iOS and it shouldn't matter if 1 person or 10 billion people use Safari, if Mozilla is going to go after Microsoft then they should go after Apple.

I like both Firefox and Chrome, they're both good browsers, but I think Google and Mozilla should just shut up and just make Metro browsers and not worry about it.
