I was just wondering - how many of you have wireless keyboards and/or mice and see the lag with them as an issue? I don't think about it too much, but it is noticeable whenever I plug in a hardwired mouse. My Logitech LX7's batteries just died, so I put them on the charger (they're rechargables - it seems that when I get the low battery warning I have just a day or two until it dies, compared to weeks with regular batteries - maybe that's due to the lower nominal voltage?), and in the meantime pulled my old MX310 out of the closet to use.

I quit using rechargables in my mouse as they do not hold up well. I buy Industrial Energizers and they hold up quite well. No lag at all, which is good, as I get killed often enough in games as it is. :P :D

I have advised those clients I have that use rechargeable batteries in their peripherals, that it doesn't always work right. Yes, because of the lower voltage. A rechargeable will show a full charge at around 1.25 volts or maybe as high as 1.3 volts when new. This is low enough to get a low bat signal even when fully charged. I recommend the lithium ones, AA or AAA. They have a slightly higher voltage but will last longer, eliminate some lag and in some cases even extend the working range.

I wonder what the actual lag time really is- it's gotta be just a few milliseconds, almost imperceptible. However, I'm with you. I noticed it when I had wireless stuff and it was quite irritating. Now I use a wired mouse and keyboard on all of my machines except two, and have for a long time. My server has no input devices, and I do use wireless stuff on my HTPC so I can use it from the couch. (I'm lazy...:D)

What I've found is that the lag normally isn't really noticeable, but if you move it around quickly it is. It's mainly when I use a good hardwired mouse that I notice the difference. (note: my MX310 doesn't turn off or dim the led like most do, it just leaves it running at full brightness all the time, supposedly to minimize lag)

I've found that the lag issue seems to be about the same whether or not I use rechargeable batteries.

I don't use them. Cables are no problem for me, as I have enough room for my desktop. And, as the name says, desktops are STATIONARY and not mobile. That means you don't need to carry cables about. Anyway, you always need cables, even for your bluetooth laptop (power supply, cooling pads etc!).

True. The only thing is that sometimes I put the keyboard on a nearby shelf when I want to put other stuff on the keyboard tray. (when I'm not using the computer) The other thing is that, for mice, the cord can be a bit annoying. Still, I guess it's not that big of a deal.

It does have a time lag when I operate but that period is so small that I hardly realize there was a time lag. I think the main reason for time lag is low battery or old batteries. What you think?
