geek tools like SSH clients are nonexistent on iOS

This is untrue. I use iSSH regularly on my iPad to administrate my Linux home server.
If I dispute one single point in a post, that should not be taken as an indication that I agree/disagree with any other point made by that poster or anyone else in the thread. Or anywhere else. Ever.

I thought I had it made when I purchased my first planner. I wanted to "ditch" my paper planner and have a portable address book. Leaving home with my electronic device and not having Internet access didn't bother me, I didn't desire to have mobile e-mail/Internet access for an additional fee per month...just the electronic planner. Then it turns out that the ePlanner (not the app's name) that came with my tablet needs Internet access to work! What a "Apt 23 occupant"!!! "NO INTERNET---NO PLANNER DATES!!!" Then the apps for my tablet can be ONLY downloaded from the Amazon site, Google apps are unattainable. I can't listen to the radio over the Internet because Adobe FLASH isn't available for downloading!!! Other apps I've had to do without due to the "AMAZON ONLY" download site or GetJar. And yes, some crappy apps are out there. Who gives a rat's posterior about their failure rate! Now however I can feel better off knowing that my tablet, unlike my laptop on my lap isn't radiating a part of me.

Speaking of Apple, they don't charge twice for the same apps. Both Android and iOS offer universal apps (apps that are supposed to work for both phones and tablets), but there's a key difference between the two: On iOS, you download one file that has both versions while on Android your request is sent to a server which recognizes which device you are trying to download the app from, and sends you the appropriate APK. It wasn't until ICs (which is pretty much on nothing these days) that developers were able to create apps that scaled to a variety of screen sizes. The lack of apps is caused by three things: The SDK being a huge pain to work with, having too many devices with tons of different specs and OSs, and the fact that people aren't buying apps.

Sure developers can be lazy, but if you have to test an app to make sure it works across nearly a different Android devices--then you aren't exactly making it the most appealing platform for smaller development teams that don't have the resources to do that.

Actually, it's pretty much the other way around. Support for multiple screen sizes was there early on, in Android 1.5/1.6. The ability to target certain devices with an apk has only come about relatively recently. What was improved as of honeycomb(3.0) was support for tablet sized devices via fragments which continued on into ICS.

Android has always been good at scaling to multiple displays. It's iOS that had to target specific devices (tablet vs phone) since they hadn't built the sdk with that in mind whereas Android had to right from the beginning, since they were looking to be on many devices.

People seem to be coming out with the myth that it's harder to code for Android than it is for iOS. That's certainly not true at all. Creating an app for Android isn't inherently more difficult. Testing is, of course, a challenge but if you're looking to get into the ecosystem, it's something you'll have to put up with - the number of devices coming out is ever increasing, not decreasing.

Ditto, ditto, ditto. I selected the tablets for my wife and I on the basis that they had Android 3.1. After much looking around at both hardware and operating system, I felt that going with Android assured me the support from my "friend", Google. So far, as the article says, the opposite is true. iPhone is beating the pants off Android.

You will lose more than the Android if you don't support it, you will lose my, and I bet, others' confidence and loyalty to Google. If I don't see improvement and find my Android tablets out-of-date and unable to update, not only will I toss the tablets and go somewhere else, I will stop all my other associations with Google in favor of a company that will stand behind their products/software.

Please get to work on Android and, at least, get it in the ballpark of competitive with the others.

You may want to double check your facts.
