I have a HP Deskjet F2280 All in one which works fine.
Today l was getting some "lined" printouts so thought l'd give the black cartridge a clean.
Went into HP solution Centre (tools) and l can't select anything as it says the printer is disconnected.
If l check out Control Panel and Device Management the printer is listed with no errors and it also allows me to print anything l want.
Bit confused now.
Is there an easy fix or should l just wipe everything out and reinstall it all over again?

If you go to the printer properties in Devices and Printers (Printers and Faxes in XP), can you print a test page from there? You might want to reinstall the hp driver utility. (Fyi, those utilities often aren't very useful. For instance, I just use the basic driver with my Brother printer and it works just fine.)
