I have a budget of 500 to buy a basic desktop. Is there a decent computer out there that I can get for that kind of money? I use the internet a lot, as well as downloading and PC games if that helps. Thanks, Jaz

I read lately that it's at a high.Should be at least $1000 US.But why not rebuild starting with your case and a new Motherboard ,best memory and cpu.All your other hardware can be upgraded as you can offord them. You current hard drive with OS should still boot to Windows.Otherwise you'll pay for things you might not need yet and avoid problem systemslike Dell .:(You or someone will need to know connecting to mbd,so get one with a manualand cd,In other words Custom build one if you can. What you want to spend should cover most except the monitor.Theres a wideprice range and type to choose from.:D

Depending on how high the requirements are for the games, you should be able to build a budget gaming system for that amount of money I believe. Extremetech.com's build it section has a budget gaming build you could use for an idea.Regards,JB
