My Windows 7 Ultimate x64 says it cann't open .swf2 files. I have already Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional, Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX 64-bit, Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin 64-bit, and Adobe Shockwave Player 11.6 installed. What should I do?
I very much appreciate in advance your detailed, step-by-step instructions in simple language.
Sincerely,
Danesh

You need to associate the file in question with Adobe Flash or Adobe Flash Player.

Thank you very much for your suggestion. As said in my initial post, I have already Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX 64-bit, Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin 64-bit, and Adobe Shockwave Player 11.6 installed. But I don't know why I can't still open the files with .swf2 extension. Even when I right-click on the files to reach the option "Open with" of the context menu to associate them with the Adobe Flash Players said, the option "Open with" of the context menu is absent; that is, the context menu lacks the "Open with" option. Now, please advise me what to do?
Sincerely,
Danesh

Used to be able to just load swf files with any browser, but nowadays you get 'security' warning messages all over it. Not much safer running one you got than one off a random web site, really. Use 'flashblock' or some equivalent. Really.

Right-click, 'open with...' and pick a browser, then answer 'OK' to whatever warnings you get.

BTW, according to where the swf file came from, and what version of flash you have installed, do consider carefully whether you SHOULD open it.

Adobe has a stand-alone flash player to run them without the browser, too, and the following page has various examples of 'debug' mode players and 'projectors' (the stand-alone player).

ALSO, you have to give flash 'permission' to run swf content from your hard drive.

Also, keep in mind that not every 'swf' file is the whole thing, unto its self. If you just snagged one off the internet, it may be just resources to be loaded in by something else. Or it may be just the 'core' part that needs other resources, XML files, etc.

If you're 'ripping' swf content off a site, you'll probably want to monitor what the browser is downloading, and either pick it out of your cache, or download the same things separately into the same tree of things. If everything was relative paths, it will probably work.

First off, THANK YOU for your kind attention to my problem. To my shame, due to my little knowledge about computer/software/hardware/programing, I failed to solve the problem despite your explanations. If possible and not too much trouble, PLEASE, give me the complete specifications and download address of the software I must download as well as any further information I might need to accomplish the job. Or, if you deem right and give me permission, I can email one of the .swf2 files to you so that you can examine and see what should be done. Anyway, in advance, I very much appreciate your kind help.
Sincerely,
Danesh

Windows, OSX or Linux? The http://www.adobe.com.../downloads.html address I gave you is the page. Just look for the 'projector' version for your OS.

Though flash files are usually just '.swf'. Another thing to try would be rename it to '.swf' and see if you have a file association for it, already.

Where you got the '.swf2' file would also be helpful, as I could probably tell you step-by-step how to open it, if I can see it as well, or at least tell you why you can't open it.

I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 as said before. Trying to download the relevant 'projector' from the page you said, I'm persistently getting 'access denied' message, perhaps because of the sanctions against my country.
I tried changing '.swf2' to '.swf'. The result was getting XML Error. I don't understand what are these!
I got the .swf2 files from a friend who let me copy his CD on my computer. Unfortunately, he's not available now to get help from. PLEASE if possible and not too much trouble, let me email the files to you to check what should be done to open them because by my little computer knowledge it proves I'm wasting your time like this and I feel my face reddening with embarrassment!
