More big government from NY Republicans.
They want to take away my freedom.
Talk about the Nanny State.

Instead of focusing on the lack of accountability in online forums of small-time anonymous commenters who have very little clout, how about focusing on the lack of accountability in political election campaigns of anonymous power brokers who have lots of money and influence?
I'd love to see a ban on what amount to anonymous comments (in the form of "independent" super PAC ads paid for by temporary front organizations with appealing names like "Real People for Truth and Justice" and "Americans for American Americanism") by disguised partisans that seek to expand their influence by concealing their real identities and their political biases.
And the bonus here is that politicians actually have a pretty clear idea of how campaign finance works and how they could make it less anonymous. After all, they use that system.

Geez, I say what have to say. If it is on YouTube, then all they need do is go to my profile and find out who I am. FaceBook, It is right there. In short, I don't really give a rip about online anonimity. No different then when I write a letter to the editor ( or a writer of a particular article ) and express my dsipleasure over something. Cyber bullying is a problem and has caused a lot of damage, not to mention Cyber stalkers. I'm not sure how well this going to address the problem, or if it is the right way to go, due to privacy issues. Until they changed the software, my name used to be in my profile here ( it is in the magazine under Community ). As I said, I'm not too overly concerned about having my name attached to my post ( it is in FB ).

Wonder if they bothered trying to define what constitutes a "New York-based website."
Good luck trying to enforce.
