What did you miss? Uh, DRIVING while texting and/or talking? Or has that become so well-known that it's not worth mentioning?

Maybe the editor drives while texting and/or talking and is the reason she doesn't mention it?

"Being Less Than Fully Present When Talking With Others"

I'm guilty of this even without my phone. But then I have chronic ADD. :P

Another article idea to follow this one -- annoying Web traits, like commenting on the one thing someone doesn't like in an otherwise extensive article.

I was using a public bathroom when a guy occupied the stall next to me and proceeded to have a very loud cell phone conversation. Being immature, I took the opportunity to make some very loud, but fake, flatulence noises and a few heavy duty grunts. The person on the other end of that phone call had to hear me.

It was a good day.
My rig:
Commodore 64 with Modem cartridge. Tape drive. Zork. OKI thermal printer. 13 inch RCA color TV with tuning knob busted off. Atari 2600 joystick, and a list of all the best BBS numbers.

Joke (unfortunately!):
After a very busy day, Peggy settled down in her seat and closed her eyes as the train departed Manhattan for the 'burbs.

As the train rolled out of the station, one last passenger jumped on the train and got the last seat — right next to Peggy.

Naturally, he pulled out his cell phone and started talking in a loud voice.

"Hi sweetheart, it's Eric! ... I'm on the train — yes, I know it's the six thirty and not the four thirty, but I had a long meeting ... No, honey, not with that floozie from the accounts office, with the boss. No sweetheart, you're the only one in my life — yes, I'm sure, cross my heart," etc., etc.

It was nauseating. And no matter how much Peggy glared at him, cleared her throat, or otherwise tried to express her disapproval over his rudeness, he completely ignored her.

Fifteen minutes later, she got an idea. She leaned in close to him and said in her most sensual, pouty voice aimed right at his phone:

"Hey, Eric, sweetie! Turn off that stupid phone and come back to bed!"
Eric doesn't use his cell phone in public any longer.

The fact that the author feels the need to make this list is evidence that things have already gone too far - beyond the point of no return. Too many people are already doing all 10 of these, with no objection voiced by those around them. Without this negative feedback, these offenses will proliferate.

That's genius, I'm definitely remembering that for the next time someone's on the phone on the bus or train.

Just make sure if you are having a face to face conversation to keep between the two of you as much as
possible.

This may be hard to believe but not everyone in the restaurant is interested in your conversation.

Talking on the toilet is a pet peeve? Seriously? How would you even know someone was sitting on the toilet while talking to you unless they announce it? I know they haven't come up with cell-phone smell-a-vision yet. If they did then the porn sites would be making a mint off of it.
Personally, if I get a call while on the head, then they are going to talk to me on the head, non the wiser..... Get over it...

Recently on the Tube train I noticed a young man holding his phone low down on his knee pretending to text. What he was actually doing was taking photos up the miniskirt of the pretty girl opposite. She was totally oblivious. Disgusting!!!

What drives me wild? Being invited to lunch by a friend who proceeds to take phone calls all during lunch. None of these calls are important - they are all casual, chatty calls from other friends. I'm fine with taking emergency calls, but not "Hi, how are you?" calls. If you want to spend time with me, turn the darn phone off, or at least don't take non-emergency calls when we're at lunch.
Second most irritating thing? People who talk on their phones in restaurants! Do you really think everyone else around you cares about your personal business? And why is it that these particular people must talk so loudly?
Third most irritating - my former manicurist who persisted in taking calls while working on my nails. After the second time she cut me while talking on her phone (I couldn't take my hand back in time), I changed salons.

I don't think that the AT&T commercial was pointing out bad behavior but rather what could be done with their "awesomely" fast service. Listen to what the voice-over says, not the characters.

Great article! Doubtful that these people will stop because they must feel entitled--"Who's gonna stop me?" Anyone should bring it to there attention. And if you're having lunch and they're talking, tell them that's a problem. Restaurants should be a no-cell zone enforced by mgmt--put up signs, too.

I think the writer needs to get a life and not worry about what others do as long as its not affecting her directly. How can my texting in the bathroom affect her?

how can u mention the last one, even with a disclaimer, if it's something you've done? That made you look a lot less credible at the end.
