Linux isn't affected, but Microsoft is. Microsoft has the facilities to code this virus.

In addition to WIPE, Lua code and NMAP hacking tools were used in the creation of this virus. Lua had its origins in Brazil computing community. Lua is used by Microsoft on XBOX and on its mobile devices. As for Linux, not so much.

Microsoft coding a really screwed-up virus that harms computers just to get people to convert to the confidently-more secure Windows 8? No corporation would be that evi-.......oh.

Where do you even get this information?? Lua STARTED on the Linux platform. Also, it did NOT "have its origins in Brazil's computing community." - it was quite clearly a University-sanctioned project carried out by the Computer Graphics Technology Group at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. Please get your facts straight.

PS: nmap uses a subset of lua as its own scripting language. They are intrinsically tied together.

I won't dispute the first part but, ummm, where is Rio de Janiero? Wouldn't a group of computing individuals at a school in Brazil be considered part of the Brazil's computing community?

The page www.whatisflame.com gives a decent overview of flame and why it is a problem.
I got stuck admiring the simple background color transition as you scroll down. It's catchy..if you are visual and appreciate web dev.
