This is great news that Asus has proven themselves to Google to release a Nexus device. Surprisingly, I would have thought a new Motorola (Nexus) Xoom was going to pop out of nowhere. Good to see my Transformer Prime was a very good investment. Keep up the good work Asus!

A quad core processor tablet for $199 is competitive with a $399 ipad?

Interesting.

This will be a sweet rig since it is a Nexus and will get all the Google Android updates as soon as they are released without having to wait for these manufacturers to "customize them with their skins".

ASUS seems to be the fastest at updating with their Transformer series of tablets but a pure Nexus device will be tough to compete with for Amazon for sure.

I just hope the OS is more stable on the ASUS/NVidia hardware than it has been on ASUS's own devices. The newest OTA of ICS is still producing random reboots and sleeps of death on them. ASUS/NVidia hardware rocks, but OS reliability needs to be the #1 goal.

Specs sound nice. Mite pick up a couple as gifts, and one for me.

if it is really priced below $200 (although rumors have been saying this for months now, but no official confirmation yet) with that hardware configuration, this slate's gonna be the gadget of the year. No doubt about it.

Eric Schmidt is the former CEO. He is Chairman now, as he was last December.

A long awaiting device from Google. I am sure this will beat Kindle but perhaps give hard time to Apple as well. The specs are awesome, i dont think so we have any other tablet with such powerful processor and the more important is google itself is owning it.

Question guys, does it have option of SD card ?

I thought Jelly bean was 5.0 and not 4.1. 4.1 should still be another version of Icecream sandwich (ICS).

You are correct. Must be a typographical error in the article (hopefully).

4.1 makes perfect sense Remember Android 2.0, 2.2 and 2.3.6. No need to jump tp 5.0 for new OS, right?

That and the Galaxy SIII, with also-awesome specs (plus it's super thin!) and a $200 price tag.

You are incorrect. Jelly Bean is definitely 4.1. This has been proven on many sites (including the Nexus 7 itself), and the updates aren't major enough to be a whole number jump. Plus, why can't 4.1 have a different name? Remember 1.5, 1.6, 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3? And this can't be a typographical error. How can "5.0" be mistyped as "4.1"? The 1 and 0 are far away from each other on the keyboard.
