Yet another compact digital camera that promises to take great videos but is ruined as a camcorder because it comes without a microphone input jack. It's no wonder that GoPro's little wonders are being used more and more by professional videographers -- they're compact, rugged, take decent videos and they let you plug in a mic for better audio.

Sounds like it does have some great potential for a compact camera with the sensor larger than most other compact type cameras, sounds fast at 10-fps burst mode. The "programmable control ring around the lens, which provides quick access to manual focus controls" sounds like another excellent feature for any camera especially a compact. Thanks for keeping us up to date on the new digital cameras.

This is a good step in the right direction. What I really want is Sony's APS-C sensor (which is larger than Canon & Nikon's cropped sensors), with a lens just like this one but 24mm (or wider if possible), lots of manual Control rings. The customizable ring is a welcome change. We need more manual controls, so we can stay clear of the dreadful menus.

If they can cram all this in compact (although I don't expect to fit it in my pocket), that will be a DSLR owner's travel camera. And if the lens is good enough, it could even be used for street photography and compete with the likes of Leica and Fuji.
