I was compressing a hard disc in W7 to save some space, but one programm stopped it so I turned computer off and went to sleep... This morning I saw, when I turned my comp on a message BOOTMGR is compressed, please pres ctrl+alt+delete... And it says that every time I turn it on. I have luckily a ubuntu instaled, so if you can help me to fix this problem it would be great...

Do you have a Win7 install or repair disc? If so I would boot to the disc and select "Repair". That should fix bootmgr.

Use the OS CD, you need to get into DOS.
Go to the hard drive (ie C:\)
After that type in the following commands one at a time:
bootrec /FixMbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /rebuildbcd
exit

After that restart your computer, it should have fixed toy problem.
Windows 8 is a useless OS that Microsoft released that has many flaws and bugs. DO NOT USE IT. Use Windows XP or Windows 7.

I'm really interested to see if that works since I've been using the repair disc these days to fix the mbr. Back in the good old days I would use the Win95 boot floppy and boot to fdisk to repair the mbr.

The good old days of floppy disks both the 5.25 and 3.5. I still have several Windows 3.1 floppies around. Plus Windows 2.0 since the system work on floppies very well.

It will work. I have used those commands to fix several machines that had that problem.

Before I booted the Lenovo I bought, I loaded the recovery disk first. Then by itself. Just to see if it would do it. The Repair should rewrite the MBR as long as the hardware matches the BIOS and the numbers match up. And thank goodness for not having to feed diskettes into a unit, sometimes up to six just for DOS. Then WIN3.1 was another 8 with the extra drivers(2). A darn shoe box couldn't hold all the floppies and hardware manuals. Hardly left room for spare parts and swap units. My first programming experience was with the numberic keypad and only later when we had 8 track type cartridges to load boot programs and operating systems. Only later in 79 did they progress to a hard drive, a huge beast that held a 5 MB platter and we had a test unit with a fixed platter of 5 MB and a removable platter could be mounted above for copying. You've seen them, the blue tinted cake box with a handle in the middle on top.
