It's seems a pretty good deal I believe which at least need a try.
Personally $100 and more with ATT, Sprint or Verizon is called fooling people. Think about it, if a carrier can do a prepaid at $30/ months w. the Iphone then they could ALL do it. But the "stealing people's money and make the rich richer" is probably the best plan...

Of course, if you do that 18 month plan where Virgin's subsidizing the phone (though they're already doing that a little as it is), you'll be stuck in a contract as usual, right? That said, I have to wonder how some people pay $100/month. I'm paying $30 for my tmobile plan, plus I bought the phone outright (a Nexus) for $400.

The real issue; isn't $650 a ridiculous amount of money for a telephone, whether it is pre paid or on contract? I want an iphone but having grown up poor I can't put that much money into a telephone. But, I am glad that I bought that Apple stock last year.

I'm not sure how this can be correct... I've had contracts with Sprint and T-Mobile, and been on a family plan of AT&T. I've never seen taxes/911 charges/regulatory fees/etc amount to more than $5 or so. Of course, taxes will increase as the amount of the plan increases, but they are at a fixed percentage. On my last T-Mobile bill with a base price of $70, my taxes and fees were about $4.50 or so. In general, for an individual cellular postpaid plan, I allow about $5 for taxes and that's usually a fairly accurate ballpark figure. Are you sure you weren't including additional fees for messaging, additional data, or overages?

In theory, it could. However, since VM utilizes Sprint's network for 3G, I wouldn't plan to use it to provide bandwidth for ANYTHING. Sprint's network is terrible! The data speeds are outrageously slow, and the latency is extremely high, which increases wait time even more. You cannot stream videos or even music at Sprint's speeds, and just checking your email, Facebooking and uploading a few pictures is a painful experience. If you were to try to run computers, gaming devices and/or Smart TVs with this connectivity, almost everything would be inoperable.
Keep in mind, what you are asking is definitely possible with WiFi hotspot -- you just need to have a powerful enough network behind it to support it. If you had a WiFi hotspot device with one of the new LTE networks, I wouldn't see any reason why it wouldn't work... you'd just be paying a lot more for the service.

There IS a place where it shows this information... it's called the internet. Try googling "cellular providers" and you'll be amazed at what you can find. You can look up individual phones on phonescoop.com and that site will tell you which carriers have the phone, and whether or not it is currently for sale or if it has been discontinued.

sir, the unlimited plan is purely optional. this report is basing it on the lower-tier plan, which gives you unlimited texts and internet but only 300 minutes.
with a charge card - (30*24) + 649 = 1369. proper.
at the highest tier and with the current price, it STILL only comes to 1649. silly goose.

as a VM user, i can tell you that that isn't true. our 3g data is unlimited. haven't tested our LTE just yet, but there's no data throttle or limit. never experienced it and i use upwards of 10-12gb of data a month...
