Another way to do this (without looking ridiculous) would be to mount the cameras on a wood or sheet metal disk using their tripod sockets.
Mount the disk on a sturdy wooden dowel or broom handle so you can brace the platform on the ground or hold it up overhead.
Triggering the cameras would still be done with the servos but the batteries and wires could be under the platform , then the wires go up through the disk so there is no chance of them getting in front of one of the lenses.
