You're kidding, right?
Microsoft steals nearly everything or is late bringing new ideas to market.
There will be no breakthrough Microsoft Tablet..........just a "Me, Too" thing that'll barely be worth a yawn or two.

If MS is getting into tablets, why didn't it design an OS optimized for tablets; instead of the current mish-mash called Windows-8, which is not optimized for anything?

The upcoming wPad should be named a 'whyPad' because why do we need it?

Microsoft deserves credit for a plane that didn't fly?
Apple is making a plane that flies.

Interesting because I didn't know Microsoft was so far ahead of its time with respect to tablets and that the result for Microsoft was bupkis.
I guess DOING SOMETHING isn't as important in this world as DOING SOMETHING RIGHT.

Perhaps you could say the same thing about Apple Stores compared with Gateway Computer Stores.
Apple Stores are a huge success, and Gateway Stores are..........GONE.

There's a difference between doing it and doing it right.

Logically, Microsoft should only bring this device out to compete with the iPad/Samsung Galaxy Tab. Microsoft has only a tenuous hold of a media base through its Zune Marketplace but if, as I expect, Monday's announcement is more to expand ZM to a more rich unifying infrastructure between RT and Win8, then obviously the tablet would need to compete with the intermediary-level tablets and not just media consumption; where Microsoft has failed more than once in the last five years.

Two words: Developer Support

Apple released its iPad with a software library consisting of tens of thousands of ready-made applications and dozens of iPad-specific apps. Microsoft merely said, "Tablets are the PCs of the future--buy now!"

In case you haven't noticed, Win8 is Microsoft saying, "You don't have a choice any more. If you want to use Windows, you MUST develop touch-centric apps. This is your last warning!"
