When I check Device Manager, these are the three I see with a question mark ...Ethernet ControllerMass Storage ControllerModem Device on High definition Audio BusThe problem is, it doesnt tell me any company name. I dont know what kind of ethernet controller is this. I dont know what kind of mass storage controller it is looking for. And I have no idea what kind of modem is it ..Please help. Hi, Lets see which drivers I downloaded ... ummm I will have to figure this out and guide you from my laptop. I am at my parent's house right now, I will be at my house tomorrow and then I can guide you through my laptop. You see, I downloaded some software components from intel website which recognize what kind of CHIP we have on N27. I will have to run that software to tell you which drivers to download. My apologeze, I should have given the links in my earlier post. Do you have yahoo? I can guide you step by step. My yahoo ID is netprointRegards.(P.S. - Let me ask you, have u already installed windows XP on your laptop? Is it XP Home or XP Professional or XP Professional 64Bit? Do you have all the information to install Windows XP on your laptop? I can help you with ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. Do you have a desktop to chat with me while you will be installing XP on your laptop? We will need around 3 hours to do all this buy I can assure you, the results will be great. Its worth installing XP and removing stupid vista ).

You obviously seem like you know what you are doing. Try this site:Driver Guide.comAfter a free registration, you will be able to search their database. You can also download their driver utility and after you run it, the utility will tell you what drivers you need to update.

Hello ITIEN,I believe you got the drivers from Intel ... good work. Now here is what I did ... I downloaded a lot of programs from some sites and the one which helped me gather information isASTRA32Download this utility and install it. It is good to go, no virus or spyware. After installing, run it. It will tell you what type of components you have on your laptop and then you can search for the missing drivers on Google. Download the drivers and install them.ASTRA32 helped me install a couple of drivers, however, I am still looking for one last driver.MODEM DEVICE ON HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO BUS.Seems like Astra32 is unable to find any problem with this device, but who cares, I dont use Dial up Modem, so I guess, I dont need it. I cant really provide help on this.Another problem I have experienced, The RealTek audio driver is a pain in the butt. I cant play a few of games with this driver enabled, I have to disable audio driver to play the game. Then I dont get sound while playing the game :(Any Help?

Gentlemen - you have discovered the problems of blowing away Vista before noting the hardware. Once you have identified the hardware, if your not satisfied with with a driver like the Realtek, go to the device manager, double click on the device, then the driver tab. Let windows then look for updated drivers (second button down) from the windows update site. I usually choose the this time only option. It might be a better driver. If you don't like it, you can always roll back to the previous driver.I hope you burned your recovery DVD's before you blew away Vista. Although you may think you will never want it, people have a way of changing their minds, and in a year or so, XP will probably be in the minority in the installed base. In short, I hope you didn't burn your bridges. If anyone out there is thinking of reverting a Vista machine to XP, go to the device manager and make a list of every device listed, and then find and download the drivers before you start. Then the reversion will be more orderly.BTW - I did a clean install of Vista from the upgrade, (no bloatware) and my system boots from scratch, through the sign on to the desktop with Aero and sidebar in 65 seconds. My XP Pro machine (without Aero and sidebar of course) takes 55. Once you have your XP machines loaded down, they won't boot in 10 seconds, shoot my XP Pro machine won't clear POST and bring up the Windows Logo in less than 15 (actually timed).

gsuter - what bugs? What software are you running in Vista? Are you running anti-virus and anti-spyware? And scanning?I did a clean install of Vista from the upgrade disc (blew away XP MC totally) and have not had a single problem. Don't have manufacturer installed bloatware either. And I most certainly DO NOT have ANY SYMANTEC products loaded.

Hello all,Took me two hours to design the site and upload all the information. But I believe, its worth it. I hope this will help VGN-N27 users. Please follow the link below to get help.http://www.compset.netFollow the Update on left side on that site. But ALAS! Still looking for Modem drivers. Ummm its not that I cant find them, the problem is, I am hell busy to search it around. I will have download Hardware detection utility programs and I will surely get to know the type of modem. It is somewhat 'not so important' for me as I dont have a dial-up connection.I am still finding an updated version of Realtek High Definition Audio driver. The one which is on Intel website, is not the latest version. Dont know why Intel dont have the updated one. Microsoft has the updated one which comes with Automatic Updates. I have turned off my automatic updates. I tried to get the update manually from Microsoft site, but it asks me to validate my windows and u know ... the end of road for me  lol.Happy Computing!
