Old School stuff - The Windows RT version of Surface has USB 2.0, with USB 3.0 on the Windows 8 Professional version.

What I want to know is will Windows 8 Pro version be a good writing tablet because without Office, what writing app is there?

Is that your only gripe?

"The cover feels more secure than Apple's Smart Cover, which can easily slip-slide out-of-place."

Hmmm, I've never had that issue. And I was hoping the reporter could explain more about the available colors of the keyboard. Or was that just poor picture taking by the photographer?

This is brilliant! By making one OS for tablets and PC I can play PC games and use Office apps anywhere while still having a tablet. Goodbye android tablets, I think we have a new number two in the house.

This is Microsoft's first serious venture into computer hardware. It is safer to stick with Apple and to make a clean break from the time-limited Windows operating system.

iPad happens to have neither unless you throw money in the direction of Apple to buy a ludicrous 'adapter'.

Actually, the WinRT version will have Office Home & Student preloaded.

hi gang,

I must agree with GeorgeThree... ugly, really ugly.

... ok, also a day late and a few billion dollars short...

Its only real disadvantage is that it runs Windows...

... if it could be pre-loaded with linux I might take a look.

ugly.

Cheers.

I really hope this turns out to be as good as the writer says it is. I could really use a nice Windows Tablet.

If this tablet has the windows version that runs on a laptop, and if it has the full functionality of the windows file system, you can consider it the winner over iPad. Let me put it this way, it will push Apple to either make iOS more like Windows (without the restrictions of an app only system) or it will have to run MacOSX ). Is THAT simple

Since the Pro version can install any existing Windows app, you can use the existing Office software you have now. Don't need to pay, directly or indirectly, another version.

You are so wrong in more than one way.

So, your impression was that it is good from far.

We know how that ends.

We know how that expression goes.
