I'm trying to learn how to use this forum. This was originally posted under the PCWorld Magazine sub-forum and nobody responded. I would appreciate
some help. thanx
original post-
Long time reader of PCWorld. Noob at using forum. Ongoing problem I have encountered in the articles I find most interesting is
insufficient info to help me learn more. Examples: (May 2012, Here's How, pg. 95)
1. Change a Window's Password Without a Reset Disc. What version(s) of Windows? I run 98SE, 2000, XP Home, XP Pro, XP MC,
(and Ubuntu) and have Vista and 7 waiting for when I have time to load them. OK, so I'm old and slow. Point is, some
how 2's are more universal than others and a ref to which OS or a link to more would be really helpful.
2. Easy Hack: INSTALL WINDOWS 7 WITHOUT A DISC. This is something I would really like to try. I could search the net to find
where to download a ISO file of Win 7 (for free?) and the same for Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool. Not all downloads
are created equal. The better downloads are not always on MS's website.
Last of all I would like to know what the protocol is to better address specific issues like these. Should I try to contact
the authors directly (if possible), continue use of a forum, or accept that my skill level may not be sufficient to
perform some of the activities?
P.S. Apologies to the author of the examples if he feels he is being unfairly singled out. His articles were selected only only
