I am planning to buy a smartphone in 20k range. I am a little confused with the new market launches of HTC and Sony. Please suggest me a good android phone.
I will be using my phone for internet and office purposes. And a little gaming will not hurt! ;)

I have considered
  • HTC One V
  • Sony Xperia U

What currency is this in? Also, are you talking about an on-contract phone or an off-contract, unlocked one?

Personally, I don't like the feel of the Razrs (they seem a bit narrow to me). I like my Nexus though. (that said, it might be too big for some people, at 4.65" including the onscreen buttons at the bottom)

Mine's 2.67"x5.33", pretty similar. I have to wonder how some people are ok with the iphone's 3.5".

It took some getting used to going from the 4" Evo 4G to the 3.5"+/- of the iPhone. Of course, I also thought that the 4" Evo 4G was huge when I first got it. So, to me, it is more a matter of what you are used to using. The iPhone works just fine for me...as did the Evo 4G when I had it...just a matter of a little time to adjust.

My suspicion is that it is Indian Rupees. There have been similar questions about computers and other tech toys in the past with costs values in the tens of thousands and more and they were typically in rupees. Plus, if it is rupees, then that is equivalent to about $350 in the US which is about the right price level for many Android phones.

When my dad first saw the nexus in store, he thought it was too big. (He has an iPhone 4s and is probably used to that.) On the other hand, I thought it was just right. After having the phone for a few days, I can safely say that I'm happy with my decision.

That's what I'm thinking... (where is the OP anyway?) The problem is that you can't just directly translate it - the last time I tried that, I found that the equivalent of $800 can't buy you an i5 laptop there, yet it easily can here.

Both of the mobile devices selected by you are good, both the devices are having same features but as per my perception HTC one V wins over Sony Xperia U.
HTC one is having much better camera with 2.0 lens
Its having beats audia installed
Latest version of android phone ie 4.0
New quick office, providing facility to edit your document files.
Light and sleek model and many other feature..

If you want to buy good smartphone then I want to suggest you that you should go for Sony Xperia U because Sony smartphone offers good performance in comparison of HTC smartphones. Sony Xperia U is one of the most impressive devices because it comes with dual core processor running at a fast speed of 1.5 GHz and powered by the Android OS, Android 2.3 Gingerbread planning to be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The 512 MB of RAM supports the smooth functioning Android operating system. The 5 megapixel camera that Sony Xperia U offers allows the user to click wonderful pictures and that at a resolution of 2592 by 1944 pixels which is pretty formidable.
