If Apple really has a legitimate patent claim, why did they wait until now to assert this? Wouldn't they have wanted any uncertainty of patent ownership to be cleared up years ago??

Kodak sued Apple over patent infringement a few years ago and very recently lost--apparently due to this very argument over who really owns the patents. Apple and Kodak worked together long ago to create Apple-branded cameras and other digital-imaging content. Whether Apple did or did not assign any rights to FlashPoint I do not know, but in this I believe Apple, at least, is in the right for wanting to retain hold on technology they helped develop.

Bill Gates should have let apple go bankrupt years ago instead of bailing them out.It seems that's all apple wants, is for other company's to fail so they can steal their patents.
