China has legal protections? What a laugh. Who do they protect --- the government.

In regard to Apple, they should return the defective part to the customer unless contractually Apple has the right to keep the part.

There's nothing wrong with refurbished parts unless they are sold as new. Of course, Apple would never do that :-)

After you've paid Apple's atrocious repair costs once, you never want to do it again.
