The reason I bought the Iphone was because of all of the accessories. Bad move on Apple's part if they actually go ahead with this.

I'm pretty sure, as Apple being such a large corporation, they would have overlooked such issues years ago, and most likely already invented something to tackle this problem if it were to come along. Commonsense, what an article, obviously made for a pointless argument to gain comments, not to make a statement.

"It seems fair to assume someone will develop an adapter that will let you connect the 19-pin iPhone to existing 30-pin cables and peripherals"
A little company call Apple will probably make the adapter for (I'll guess) 40 USD.

I'll guess you are wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if they bundled one or more for a while. No doubt we'll find out soon enough (if i comes to pass).

If I dispute one single point in a post, that should not be taken as an indication that I agree/disagree with any other point made by that poster or anyone else in the thread. Or anywhere else. Ever.

So you think they will change the connector and ship an adapter included with the new product? It would be interesting then to know why they would change the connector in the first place, it's not like the iDevices are artificially wide to accommodate the 30 pin connector.

I have no idea if or why they'd change the connector (except possibly to scrape a few more mm3 inside), but if they do, I'd not be surprised if they bundle an adapter.

USB connectors should be the standard. Why do I have to get new cables and accessories every time I upgrade or change my phone?

It was inevitable. We demand devices that have more features yet stay small/thin. As they consider adding LTE, nfc, possible larger screens, etc that require more battery power they have to save space every way they can. Did you know that apple has a patent on a headphone jack that's cut in half (http://www.conceivab...zor-thin-iphone)?

This dock connector was introduced nearly a decade ago, how much longer should they hold onto it if they have the technology to shrink it down for another 10?

They will still have a lot of accessories out there even if they change the connector because it will be their new standard for iPhones, iPads, and iPods.

There will be adapters available from China for $3.
Don't worry about it. Plus the reason for the smaller adapter is because of the bigger batter and antenna for 4G. No new plug, no 4G.

That is the reason, more space. cutting the size of the plug cuts much more than you would think. And due to the next iPhone being 4G, it needs the extra battery space and a bigger antenna. If people will actually remember things... The reason the 4S does not have 4G was because they couldn't fit the antenna in it, and the battery life would have been poor.
Everyone who is complaining about the dock, give it a rest, no one is forcing you to upgrade to it. stay with the 4S if you don't like it.

This should win some type of award for stating the obvious: "Introducing a new 19-pin connector won’t really make existing 30-pin devices obsolete per se. They’ll still work just like they do now--they just won’t connect to your new iPhone. If you have multiple devices, you’ll still need your 30-pin cables and gadgets for the older models."
