Apropos of the second slide in this slideshow, the only decent bagels I've ever found in Berkeley are at Berkeley Bagels (formerly Boogie Woogie Bagel Boy) on Gilman Streeet. On the continuum from light-and-fluffy Wonder Bread-style bagels at one extreme to authentic NYC one's-a-meal bagels at the other, Berkeley Bagels bagels are at least two-thirds of the way to New York.

Actually this terminal was soon followed by a "glass teletype" at the Whole Earth Access Store on Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley, a terminal at a High School in the Mission district in San Francisco, and one at the Village Design house on Ashby in Berkeley, all connected to the same XDS-940 host at Project One in SF.
