Jesus you need a friggin manual to get past all of Facebook's pitfalls. What was a simple service to use has now become a maze and not worth using. Google plus here I come!

The facebook devs completely destroyed their messaging/email system a long time ago, to the point that it is even nearly useless for sending private messages between users.

In addition, I tested out the @facebook.com interface and it never worked. The consequence is that it is pointless for them to be showing email addresses that can't be used for anything useful in the first place. It is just plain text anyway, with none of the nicetities of ream HTML/MIME email that is available from a desktop client like Thunderbird.

It is just crazy that facebook keeps destroying so many of its features, and this one is only one in a long list of things they have made either useless or just removed altogether. An example was the discussion sections on groups and pages, which were wildly popular, but no longer exist. Another was the ability for bands/composers/singers/musicians to host their music on the site. All the musicians I know are now using external sites and trying to post links to external streaming music sites to make their work available to fans via facebook.

People may have facebook accounts, but a lot of people I know, use facebook less and less.

I recently had to contact two friends-of-a-friend who are not regular Facebook users. I had no other contact information for them. I went to get their e-mail out of Facebook and saw this. I still haven't heard from them. It will likely be too late by the time they read about the party. Thanks for nothing, FB.

FACEBOOK is a PITA! Their need to control shows their immaturity. They are like Obama! EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE whether it is good or not. I am in a 'never-use-it' mode. Most like will cancel it if I can get all my data and profile to cancel also! Bet they've got that under wraps, too.

Seems I'm constantly undoing something Facebook has intruded upon.

If you don't have Timeline, then in Step 2 you'll click "Info" rather than "About".

This fixes the email which shows on my profile, but I'm still not receiving message notifications in my email inbox. Are there any other settings they've messed with?

I've checked how notification are handled in the account settings and all seems fine. My primary email address is listed and "Sends you a message" is selected under Facebook.

Pretty frickin annoying!

Facebook still doesn't make it easy to do that. If you'll notice, if you don't scroll down to it slowly the ability unhide your email address or hide the Facebook email address, the pop up box will disappear. Same thing when you go to save it. If you don't scroll slowly, the Save button will disappear and you won't get it back. Very deceptive on the part of Facebook.

I wish I could read just one discussion without some Fox News addict poisoning an otherwise mature discussion.
