have the various devices play a video with audio over bluetooth. In this respect, Android is a Fail.
have the various devices implement a music keyboard - the audio latency in Android makes a music keyboard unworkable. In this respect Android is a Fail.
It's a consequence of an open system with very no in sufficient hard requirements for hardware that the audio software can depend upon.

With multiple competitors, everybody wins. Goggle wants/needs to outdo Apple and Microsoft in bringing new and better features to its operating system; then the other two companies will have to outdo Google as well as each other. Competition drives invention and innovation, and consumers benefit regardless of which company they choose to buy from.
Sure, Android lags behind iOS in certain features now. And Microsoft is playing catch-up against both Google and Apple. But none of them are just sitting on their hands, and none will concede the battle for market share anytime soon. The industry is such that companies play leapfrog for "best OS" all the time -- and that's a good thing.
