The Business Benefits Of Adding A Second Monitor

I've been using dual monitors for years now. I agree, for LCDs, Portrait view is most important. Especially with all of the screen space the phat "Ribbon" gooey wastes on a landscape layout! (The Ribbon really was designed for 4:3 CRTs, not 16:9 LCDs)
Another option to consider is if the "default" monitor is LCD, go with a CRT for the 2nd monitor. LCD monitors max out at "HD" resolution. CRT monitors can support MUCH higher resolutions. I really miss the extra screen working area.

It might be a good follow-on to mention a few inexpensive video cards that have dual DVI connections. I've also found Display Fusion to be an essential utility for dual monitors. I love the single-click icon it adds to the title bar that moves an app to the other display.
