How can you say that? Apple has *defined* the tablet and Smartphone market and others are rushing to the trough with copycat designs. Why shouldn't Apple be able to protect their investment in design? Do you also think that all Chinese companies should be able to copy US intellectual property at will... or just Korean companies?
Copying is not competition. Innovation and disruption is competition. That's what Apple does and that's what Samsung does NOT do in the tablet or Smartphone market. If you think otherwise, please name a product that is not merely an evolution of the iPhone or iPad design.

Apple didn't define the tablet and smartphone market, it was there long before Apple came around; Apple just happened to make a superior product that sold in volume. As for your remark regarding Samsung stealing from Apple, how? First off Samsung had touch screen phones on the market long before Apple did and when you get down to brass tacks, when you are dealing with a slab style device there are only so many options in terms of design. And for you to make a reference to Samsung devices being basically KIRF designs just shows your overall ignorance considering that Samsung is the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. I could go on further elaborating your ignorance but I made my point.

Yes i can name one. The MP3 Player. Long before the ipod came out, it was the Creative who design the mp3 player. That Ipod copied the design from Creative. And Ipod gets all the fame and glory!

I own a Galaxy Tab 10.1 and an iPad.
The Galaxy Tab is hands down the better device - lighter, easier to hold, better suited for movies, able to play all video formats, better speakers - I could go on.
Samsung phones alone outsold iPhones globally in 2011 and there is no reason to believe that won't happen with tablets.

So the patent troll Apple wins injunction from our corrupt legal system. Good for Apple. Not only will I not EVER buy an Apple product again, I will work to actively disparage them at every opportunity. Screw You, Apple, and Screw You, Dishonorable Lucy H. Koh, for nursing this injustice through the legal system.

The judge is her job. We have a patent system which doesn't work well at all. Things of obvious nature often get accepted and then must go trough a long and tedious court battle to prove they are not valid at all.
Look at Oracle vs. Google. Pretty much everything was decided against Oracle. They hoped to get billions and likely won't get a nickel.

iPad is 4x3, Tab is 16x9
iPad has ONE square button, Tab has 3 buttons
Tab has a big "Samsung" label on it on the front!!!
Saying that, most average users are freaking idiots - I had a Dell Streak (5" Android phone) and someone asked me if it was an iPad, yes, they're THAT stupid!
According to Apple's "similar", any device which is "rectangular, black with a shiny screen" will be "virtually indistinguishable" from the iPad
Apple seem to have forgotten that competition breeds innovation, but I firmly feel that they're deliberately doing these as their OS is so far behind everyone else's - yes, it's "smooth", but functionality wise it's MAJORLY lacking!

How about virtually everything Blackberry and Samsung did in the line of smartphones prior to June 29, 2007? Blackberry had the Pearl out in 2006 that did virtually everything the iPhone did before it was even announced (music, video, apps, etc.). The only "patent" Apple is complaining about is the "design" one because they want to have a patent on any device that has rounded corners...it has NOTHING to do with innovation. The iPhone did NOT create either the smartphone or tablet industry. There have been Windows touch tablets since Windows XP was released and "Smartphones" were around long before iPhone came out. If you weren't just an Apple fanboy you would know that.
