I can't be the only one in the world who would gladly pay an ANNUAL LICENSE FEE to MS in order to keep what I've invested in, and pay the fee so it will WORK OUT THE BUGS, and UPDATE genuine IMPROVEMENTS (i.e., make XP able to write on DVD/RW drives), and INSURE BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY.
What we pay for the OS itself at purchase, is peanuts. The big cost is in spending TIME chasing down bugs we can't ever diagnose due to the arcane lack of transparency. I'd rather pay MS more annually and have a system which does NOT change the interface, but DOES ameliorate the operation.
Why don't the market-share analysts think of that? FAR better than new interfaces which generate hostility and angst.

I've also had no problems with Vista, yet like me, I believe, you will not want to use Vista after using Windows 7! I've been very critical of Windows 8, too, but my experience with RTM has been nothing but pleasant. No more Vista for me, ever again!

Now don't give 'em ideas. The Start screen isn't that bad, but they should have given users a choice, I agree. Just try the latest Start8. Seems to work wonders for me.

I'm happy Win8 (click here) works for you, but it doesn't work for business (click here). And about a year from now, you'll find out it doesn't work for you, either. Too many restrictions, too much invasion of privacy, etc. They removed features from Win7, in Win8 (click here), and removed features in Win7 versus XP (click here). (The article link focuses on Vista, but it also largely applies to XP.) You don't yet know enough about how Win8 works (click here), but you will.
