I use the Mac for a Mac as do most of the long time users. GOOG is the usurper king.

Microsoft is being hounded about not allowing access to the stuff needed to make a fast browser on windows 8 (which isn't even out yet). Has the same thing going on for Apple? I have both android and iOS devices. The chrome browser is better in my opinion. But if they are not allowed to tap into the same resources then the speed will never be there. Which is limiting the completion. Again that's what Microsoft is getting yelled at for.

can I sync bookmarks? That would be the ONLY reason to use Chrome on ipad and have it sync my bookmarks (hundreds of them) across devices... don't see an option? * star. =(

Care to elaborate on your nonsensical comment?

I spoke too soon.. yes, I see the bookmarks. Great!! Although for the life of me... why the "icons"? How about a straight up "text" bookmarks that conserve space and are simply accessed the same way?

Apple will most probably fall under such scrutiny once their market share is significant for antitrust/dominant position policies, which is not the case and most probably never will be for the iPhone outside the US.

I hate doing this on mobile. Lol. I understand what your saying, but I believe in a fairs fair world. If apple doesn't have to open up and let every one truly compete on their system, then no one should. I personally think every company should have to open up. If a company truly makes the best browser experience, then no need to keep these things from competitors. We have enough "copy cat" laws to protect the finished product. Competition only makes companies work hard to stay ahead. Why not embrace it, and allow the end users to benifit?

I will say that Chrome seems to be an absolute MUST on an iPad 1. For those of you still using iPad 1's and experiencing frequent crashes due to the lack of memory on the device, I highly suggest you try Chrome. Chrome appears to be much more stable than mobile Safari with limited RAM, which may have to do with it not using the NITRO JS engine. While I wish Chrome was faster, it is simply a very small trade-off to give up slight speed for something CONSIDERABLY more stable. Don't take my word for it, try it out yourself. Chrome for iPad simply appears to be much more lightweight than Safari, which is really important on only 256MB RAM iPad 1st gen. I have not experienced one crash using Chrome, but Safari crashes multiple times per day. I have tried to find a solution for this before, but most people simply suggest I buy an iPad 3, which I simply cannot afford.

I wonder how much of a Safari wrapper this is though - after all, you're limited to Safari's rendering engine on iOS, but both that and Chrome use WebKit anyway.

I did a speed test on my iPhone 4s and Chrome was a tad faster than Safari

It is whether or not you want speed or interface and productivity. Chrome on iOS seems more productive using multiple tabs, but Safari is limited to 8 and the interface is basic.
Sort of like Android and iOS. Android is more productive and has a more interactive interface and iOS is simplicity.

I istalled Google Chrome on my ipod touch 4. I am fascinated with its features, but it does run somewhat slow and buggy. I can't blame that on Google because of how Apple restricts its operation. Chromes conveniences outweigh the speed issue.

Using incognito mode does not protect privacy very well. I was looking at a private website incognito, pressed the home button and put the iPad away. My wife took the iPad, opened Chrome and was right where I left it, on that private site. Not cool Chrome!
