Resident Evil 6 New PS3 Gameplay Footage Surfaces
source:gameranx.com

Posted Image

Quote

Capcom showcased a brand new gameplay video of Resident Evil 6 at its Capcom Summer Jam event today. The footage, which was shot live at the event, was hosted on a PlayStation 3. The game was previously only demoed on an Xbox 360.

The video has Leon Kennedy making his way through a subway station as he's beset by a horde of zombies who attempt to bar his path. Much like Resident Evil 4, the last title starring Leon, his segments appear to have a good number of scares in comparison to Chris Redfield's more action-oriented missions.

Resident Evil 6 will be out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC later this year.

Top 20 Worst Sniper Fails Caught on Video
source:gameranx.com

Posted Image

Quote

Sniping has been a core component of multiplayer games since the advent of shooters like Quake. This element of the game persists with the likes of first and third person shooters like Call of Duty, Halo, and Gears of War.

Generally speaking, snipers are hated—and with good reason: no one likes campers, especially those who pick you off from the safety of distance. Still, the role of a sniper takes a lot of skill despite its infamy in videogames.

The reason most people take to the sniper rifle is simply because the weapon is the longest reaching, and typically most damaging weapon in the game. The sniper rifle is the ideal weapon for taking out enemies at any distance—even in close range, if you've mastered the art of 'quickscoping'. In spite of its slow reload and how vulnerable it makes snipers, the damage potential is worth the trade.

That said, if you're not very good at sniping, you're gonna have a bad time. This article takes a look at the top 20 worst sniper fails.

Good play on the comment about RE5. I didn't really feel the horror that I hear about Resident evil games. It was my first RE game. I hope that RE6 would bring more to the table in terms of horror.

Gaikai won't just be used for Sony's games machines - Andrew House
source:eurogamer.net

Quote

It was Sony Computer Entertainment specifically that announced the deal to acquire Gaikai. It wasn't Sony Corporation as a whole.

The inference was that Gaikai would be used for PlayStation purposes.

But, slap my face and call me Susie, that doesn't appear to be the end of Sony's ambitions.

Sony Computer Entertainment boss Andrew House said expanding the Gaikai technology to other products beyond Sony's game machines is "absolutely within the frame".

"It's recognition on Sony's part that the cloud and cloud streaming technologies are going to have profound and possibly a very positive impact on not only our game business, but also in the way our consumers interact with and obtain content in general," House told the Wall Street Journal.

But the plan is to start an online video game streaming service, House said, although he didn't say when.

The obvious application for Gaikai beyond PlayStation is in Sony's Bravia television line. And Gaikai has proven how this will work with an existing TV deal with Samsung. What will happen to that deal now Sony is in charge remains to be seen - House wouldn't comment specifically on it.

"It's recognition on Sony's part that the cloud and cloud streaming technologies are going to have profound and possibly a very positive impact on not only our game business, but also in the way our consumers interact with and obtain content in general."

-Andrew House, group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment

Beyond Bravia, Sony could use Gaikai to stream PS2 and PS3 games to Sony tablets, PlayStation Vita and to Sony phones. Digital Foundry explored the various technical possibilities of the Sony-Gaikai deal for Eurogamer just the other day.

The big question the Sony-Gaikai deal now poses is, what will Microsoft do? The likelihood that Ballmer's bunch will splash out on OnLive - the other major video game streaming company - diminishes by the day. The general opinion is becoming one of Microsoft doing something in-house.

Naughty Dog Is Looking For People To Play The Last Of Us
source:gamepodunk.com

http://www.gamepodun...ebea1e00dea.png

Quote

Do you live in Santa Monica, California, or are willing to drop everything you're doing and go to Santa Monica, California? If so then have I got the soul crushing offer of a lifetime for you! A recent posting on http://gamejobhunter.com from none other than Naughty Dog has revealed that the company is looking for people to test the highly anticipated Playstation exclusive, The Last Of Us.

What does the "job of a lifetime" require exactly? Well, they aren't just letting anybody play the game early. Naughty Dog is looking for people with a very specific set of skills. You'll need the ability to...
Find and report software issues
Write issues into a database in a clear and concise manner
Have strong writing and verbal communication skills
Understand and execute detailed test plans with an eye for the smallest details
Be a team player
Play games for extended stretches of time without interruption
Work overtime

While that all sounds rather easy for the average gamer, the overtime is what will kill you. Game testing jobs are notorious for making people spend endless amounts of time in one area of the game doing the same thing over and over again. This can cause gamer fatigue and it'll end up making you hate your hobby. There's more things listed on the help wanted ad, but they aren't required to get the job.

If you think you have what it takes, and you think risking your love of gaming is worth the chance of getting to play The Last Of Us months before anyone else then be my guest and follow the link below to Naughty Dog's help wanted ad. All of their contact information will be listed on the page. Good luck.

My Newest Obsession, My Favorite Addiction: A Review of Rainbow Moon
source:exophase.com

Posted Image

Quote

Gameplay: the meat and potatoes of Rainbow Moon. Pretty screenshots and trailers are nice to look at but how does it play? Having played countless strategy RPGs over the years, I would have to say Rainbow Moon is one of my favorites. As you’d expect, battles take place on an overhead grid and while the formula is nothing new, it is most importantly fun and challenging. Movement is turn based and your speed stat determines the order and how far you can move your character. While you start the game with one move per turn and limited mobility for each character, over time through leveling and earning “sub-turns” you can go further and perform more actions. Movement is controlled either via the D pad or left stick and for the most part using the stick to move is fine, however, I would like to stress using the D pad as there are times where you intend to move one way but go the other with the stick-based controls. It’s not a gamebreaker and your movement choices do have D pad directions highlighted for you but in a game where strategy is the basis of combat you want those party members going where you want them to right?

Getting closer to figuring out the mystery behind secret game “Medium”
source:nintendoenthusiast.com

What is “Medium”?
Nibris and Sadness

Quote

Here’s the intrigue so far. Let’s go back to 2006, when Nintendo’s “Revolution” hadn’t yet been revealed. Possibly the first game ever announced for the system would never actually see release. Here’s how Wikipedia succinctly summarizes the sad tale of “Sadness”:

Sadness was a psychological horror video game in development by Nibris for the Wii console and was one of the earliest titles announced for the system. While the game initially drew positive attention for its unique gameplay concepts, such as black-and-white graphics and emphasis on psychological horror over violence, Sadness became notorious when no evidence of a playable build was ever publicly released during the four years it spent in development. It was revealed that Sadness had entered development hell due to problems with deadlines and relationships with outside developers, leading to its eventual cancellation by 2010, along with the permanent closure of the company.

GTA 5 New Screenshots Analysis – Secrets Revealed
source:nowgamer.com

Quote

What secrets do the new GTA 5 screenshots hold?

Rockstar has quietly released the first screenshots for GTA 5 today. Let's take a closer look to see if they tell us anything about what to expect from the game.

1. Let's start with the helicopter and who's flying it. It's almost certain that this is GTA 5's main protagonist here, and it looks like Rockstar has taken care to obscure his identity completely.

2. It says 'police' so this is clearly a police helicopter. The door is open, suggesting that you'll be able jump out of the 'copter. Parachutes and base jumping to return in GTA 5? It's almost a certainty.

3. This is one of those infra-red cameras you see in Police Camera Action! which the police use to track hapless criminals from afar. What's the chance you'll use this camera in some kind of surveillance mission in GTA 5?

4. Is this LA's famous City Hall? It looks likely but is on the 'other side' of downtown from the real City Hall.

5. This looks like GTA 5's take on the famous Westin Bonaventure hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Fingers crossed there will be a mission where you have to jump from one roof to another while riding a horse.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Gets Trophy Support; New Announcements Coming at August Event
source:andriasang.com

Posted Image

Quote

Metal Gear Solid 4 will get a Trophy patch, according to an interview with Hideo Kojima in this week's Famitsu. The magazine does not reveal a date for the patch, but MGS4 is scheduled to receive a budget release in in August, so the timing could coincide with that.

The interview also reveals that Konami will hold a Metal Gear Solid 25th Anniversary Event on August 30 at Tokyo Midtown (the office complex that houses Konami's main office). There will be some sort of announcement at the this event, Kojima reveals in the interview. This announcement is apparently related to the vision he's previously shared about a game that connects people. Peace Walker's "Transfarring" component served as a test for this vision.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Best Version Adds Full Install Support
source:andriasang.com

No more waiting for each chapter to load!

Posted Image

Quote

Trophies aren't the only surprise feature Konami is readying for Metal Gear Solid 4. The game's new PS3 the Best budget version will also feature support for full data install. This means that rather than having the game install data at the start of each chapter, which is how things currently work, you can opt to have a full install at the start of play, and have no more installations for the rest of the game.

So Why Is Sony Making A 16GB PS3?
source:thesixthaxis.com

Posted Image

Quote

Where does that particular reasoning come from? Firmware 4.20, mostly. When it was released it was found that a couple of small changes to text had been made, and discovered in the following days.

“Eject Disc” to “Remove Disc” – hence the top loading rumours, and “System Storage” is now in the XMB instead of “Hard Disk”.

Because of this, it’s not a huge leap to assume that the PS3 will soon be able to accept an SSD (solid state drive) or, at the very least, come with one as standard. That 16GB CECH-4011A then, is highly likely to offer this new technology.

Amazon has Dark Souls and other games on sale
source:goozernation.com

Dark Souls is one of the hardest RPGs in gaming these days. From what I’ve heard, the game is a lot of fun. Amazon has it on sale right now for $23.97 for PS3 and $27 for the 360 with free shipping. Gamers could also score a used copy for $15 but this doesn't include free shipping so most of us would pay around $20 for it.

Amazon has Sniper Elite V2 on sale via Steam for $14.99, regularly its $50. The demo was a lot of fun and at that price its worth checking out. Quantum Conundrum is also on sale right now for $13.49. From what I’ve heard this game is well worth that price. The other gaming item on sale that caught my eye was L.A. Noire DLC Bundle. Gamers can get all of it for $5.99. This is a great price to extend the life of that game.

5 Things That Can Make Just About Any Game Better
source:gamingenthusiast.net

Posted Image

Quote

Atmosphere

When done correctly, a game can not only make it look like you are inside of the world, it can make you feel like you’re in the world as well. Atmosphere can range from giving you the shakes to giving you a sense of childlike wonder. Even if the enemy A.I. is imbecilic or the game doesn’t come off as all that original, these things will hardly be as noticeable when the game is dense with atmosphere. Setting the mood for what is about to happen or giving the game a consistent feel throughout can make a huge difference. Even the most realistic graphics or the largest amount of imaginable gore can’t replace a good atmosphere.

Games made better by this: Metro: 2033, Singularity, Goldeneye (Wii version), Galleon, Alan Wake

40 Best Supporting Video Game Characters Ever
source:whatculture.com

Posted Image

Video games are awesome, we all know that. They allow us to escape the dreariness of so called real life (except The Sims obviously) and become someone else for a little while. But what defines video games, alongside awe inspiring shots of things blowing up, are the characters within. Most of the time the hero or main protagonist is the one we love the most, Master Chief, Commander Shepherd, Mario etc. But sometimes perhaps it is the lesser characters, the supporting cast, good and bad that makes a game truly stand out and come to life.

This article contains a selection of our favourites in a non-specific order:

*Warning the following article contains the occasional spoiler – marked thusly *SPOILERS* so be on guard. If you haven’t played these games and think you might, bear in mind that we don’t have those flashy things from Men in Black so if you read it, you’re screwed forever!

27. Dr Peter Venkman – The Ghostbusters Video Game

Posted Image

Quote

This one feels a little like cheating as they mostly set this character up in the movies, but they managed to recapture and add to Peter Venkman brilliantly for the game, in no small part thanks to Bill Murray doing the voice over of course. It was awesome just to see this guy again. Dry wit and explosive temper. Yeah, it’s Bill Murray, we mean Peter Venkman, alright!

Your comment is very much appreciated! I was beginning to think I had 1500 bots reading the news last month. Aside from that, how's everything going with you "post-GamePro"?

Great Video Game License Plates
source:gamersbliss.com

Quote

We all know that the best way to express your love of gaming is through a great video game license plate. Considering the size and character restrictions of a license plate, sometimes it takes a little (or a lot) of creativity to make sure that people know what the heck it says! Here are a few from people who have successfully let everyone on the road know their favorites. Just watch out for any with a Grand Theft Auto theme.
