Best Free Antivirus Software

I too prefer Avast if I went with a free solution.
MSE is another good choice.
Both are not resource hogs or obtrusive.
My choice for avast over MSE free is that avast has more features like the "sandbox"
However, avast free doesn't come with a firewall.
For W7 that is no big deal being the os and firewall is fine.

OP, The sandbox is an added security feature for online banking as it creates a wall between your machine and the sandboxed browser.
However, if you practice safe surf habbits and avoid dark websites, it really shouldn't be needed.
A lot comes down to what makes one feel comfortable.

AVG made my PC a bit sluggish but Avast has been good. So Avast gets a thumb up..
