If he could get fired that easily he must have been very important to the company.
Hard lesson learned. Don't drink and Tweet, or Facebook, or late night call, or drive.
I for one think it is about time that these internet kids learn a little lesson about consequences and this is a good start.

Correction: Ryan Perez *wrote* about video games. Since Destructoid technically never paid him one could argue that he wasn't a journalist, and thanks to that stunt it's unlikely he ever will be. No publication that cares about their reputation would ever touch him now. He's basically unemployable as a writer unless he changes his name.

people certainly have the right to free speech, but nowhere does it say that people won't catch hell for saying something stupid. free speech goes both ways, and it's up to individuals to think before they speak, lest they potentially get called out on it. furthermore, it was well within Destructoid's rights to sever ties with Perez.

he questioned what Felicia had "ever brought to the gaming community", but i'd turn his tweets right back on him and ask what, exactly, HE'S contributed to gaming and geek culture in general? i've also never heard of the guy, but i'd reckon that there are tens of thousands of Felicia Day fans. she's done more for gaming and nerd culture than HE ever will, and handily squashes the gender stereotypes that are so rampant in gaming.

The Internet didn't explode. There were about six articles about this that I saw.

Everybody says there is this SEXISM problem. Everybody says this SEXISM problem will be solved when women pour into EVERY male activity and ONLY into male activities.

Everybody says the final solution to this SEXISM problem is for EVERY male-dominated hobby and ONLY male-dominated hobbies to accommodate all women.

What if I said there was this SEXISM problem and this SEXISM problem would be solved only if hundreds of millions of men were brought into EVERY female-dominated activities and ONLY into female-dominated activities and industries?

How long would it take anyone to realize I’m not talking about a SEXISM problem, that I am talking about the final solution to the FEMALE problem?

And how long would it take any sane woman to notice this and what kind of psycho woman wouldn't object to this?

But if I tell that obvious truth about the ongoing program of discrimination against my gender, the male, Liberals and respectable conservatives agree that I am a sexistwhowantstobeatupwomenandrapethem.

They say they are anti-sexism. What they are is anti-male.

Anti-sexism is a codeword for anti-male.

If I loved what I did, and put my heart and soul into making my own successful youtube channel, and writing some amazing stuff, (i.e. the Guild) and producing shows, and some douchebag condescendingly compared me to a booth babe simply because I wasn't a male, then, that is sexism. That is a male sexism issue. Not a female issue.

What female-dominated activities would you like to be involved in, and who's stopping you?
If I dispute one single point in a post, that should not be taken as an indication that I agree/disagree with any other point made by that poster or anyone else in the thread. Or anywhere else. Ever.

The reek of "publicity stunt" is overpowering.

Do not care. About either of them.
