I doubt they will. I think there is a natural upper limit and it is below that of the laptop / notebook PC. Sure they might sell well for a time, but market saturation will occur. Also, there will not be the re-buy market. People find PCs (laptop / netbook / desktop) a regular everyday tool, whereas the tablet is not. People might buy one, find they don't use it much, then never replace it. That's my humble opinion.

That's right... I bought an iPad about a month ago, and I don't "use it" use it... I bought it as a bigger iPod Touch; for media consumption only. Period.

Tablets aren't much more than toys to most people. Designed for lite duty work, I've never seen a tablet capable of the heavy duty work a PC (laptop or desktop) can perform. Tablets are good for places on the go where folks move around and need access to information (warehouses and hospitals for example). But the PC still rules for heavy duty tasks. I bring work home to complete on my laptop on occasion and could never imagine using some tablet to try and finish what I bring home.

Tablets arent for heavy duty/serious tasks?

Compare the tablets of 2012 with those of 2010.Dint their specs and OSes and apps come closer to serious heavy duty work now than in 2010?

Imagine how far they could go in 5 years.
