Why would they do that? Do you have any examples where Apple have done that?

The 7-inch iPad would be almost exclusively for media consumption, while the 10-inch iPad would be the "all-purpose" tablet.
It seems that every quarter the iPad has year-over-year growth in the triple digits. I could see Apple selling 70-80 million iPads this year.

7" tablets DOA. WRONG AGAIN STEVE.
I don't see Apple going smaller. Oh wait, didn't he criticize 4" phones too? 30%+ of the phones sold now are 4" and larger. Didn't Samsung state they sold over 5m Galaxy SNotes.
Looks like Stevo is Dumbo.
Since iPod Touch sales have dropped Bec iPad sales are cannibalizing there own kind, Apple may go slightly bigger in hopes the sales pick back up.
Steve are u watching from that deep dark pit? How many times have you been wrong. I am gladTim Cook isn't exactly like u.

I believe Samsung sold over 7mm Notes. I happen to own a SNote myself, as well as a Galaxy Nexus. I swap the SIM card between the two. The SNote is easily the best phone I've ever used. Weird at first. And I thought it was insane the first few times I saw it. It grew on me very quickly.

You should get a grip on your Jobs fascination. He was often wrong, and he often said things that seemed to be intended to divert the competition.
Sometimes Apple seems to bend to consumer demand, but the often don't. I read complaints for years that they should make a mid-tower Mac, or that they should have a Blu-Ray drive. Neither happened, in fact, instead of offering a BD drive on their laptops they're eliminating disk drives. Instead of offering a mid-tower Mac they came out with the Mac Mini. It's possible, but I don't think we'll ever see a 7" iPad, but they might do something like a larger version of the iPod. They are basically the same thing, but that would allow them to say still don't think a 7" tablet is a viable option.

wait you mean the current iPad isnt just for media consuption? Im not being fanboyistic here (don't own any tablet of any kind) but in all sincerity the current iPad is nothing more than an entertainment device. I know there are apps that allow you to do things like type stuff up but there is no "get-work-done" application built into the iPad.

I think it's an extension of whatever the owner needs it to be. There are many applications to choose from. There are a lot of games, yes. There are also a lot of productivity applications. Why couldn't it be used for those functions just as easily as it could be for games?

If Apple does this you can bet they will want to upload their higher margins. Likely be in the $349 range. When has Apple ever sold anything for cost?

Strange—I get quite a lot of work done on mine on a daily basis. Perhaps I'm using it wrong.
