The laws are ridiculous that a rogue company is mis-utilizing and laughing on its face. It is akin to a mobile company suing another on the grounds that they were the first one who implemented voice chat over mobile phone although the functionality of two way chat has already been there in the traditional phone. And the most ridiculous is that this is called "innovation" and is patented by law. It is of course "innovation" of interpreting possible loopholes in the existing laws. Nothing more nothing less. The Apple remains one of the "innovative" companies, however, the department changes from design and research to litigation. Just think of, if a company has to purchase even a name of its product (iPad) coughing out millions, what else can be said about the "innovations" it does. In the long run... they are digging grave for themselves.... In fact they are surviving still because there are few other companies that don't have such litigious genes and unethical extortion instinct in their nature. But how long... that remains to be seen.

Just think how much innovation would be gained just by stopping these silly patent suits. Not to mention the 100's of millions being wasted on lawyers.

It is ridiculous. Glad someone else sees how stupid this is. So many people here apparently need someone else to tell them when things are ridiculous. Their own minds function on some primitive level. You might be asked for a link from any website which states that these patents are ridiculous because without it being written on the internet, and referenced, it can't possibly be true.

Didn't anybody tell you? Use of rational logical thinking and deductive logic was patented by the Federal government centuries ago. People are the way they are today because of fear of being outside of the "norm". Even if the "norm" means being mentally stifled, unable to think for ones own self and ignorant to the reality that is presently our existence (namely, control)! LOL

A method of search anyway, which is just as insane. Really this is so insane I can't imagine anyone who doesn't see how nuts this all is. It just blows my mind that this stuff gets a patent in the first place. It's nuts.

Ridiculous?...ridiculous is the attack on truly innovative and American company by the pseudo-chinese Samsung, and ridiculous is the pursue of monopoly by Google. It's shameful that Apple feels the need to perpetuate this nonsense of litigation over basic concepts and ideas. The real culprit, however, is the U.S. Patent Office for granting these ridiculous patents that only serve to block further innovation and competition. The technology world has evolved so quickly because companies have adopted the best in industry and worked hard to improve upon it.
