I still don't think the new Kindle Fire would be better than the Nexus 7, even if it ran normal Android (which is a feature it needs badly).

The only thing I dislike about my Kindle Fire is that I cannot load Apps from Google Play - I have several Apps on my phone that I'd like to have on my Fire too!

You can load apps if you root the Kindle Fire and then install the Google Play store. The easiest way to do this is using the KFU : tutorial here

What is the point of a front only camera, particularly on a Kindle tablet?

I just don't believe that Skype or Facetime style apps would be more popular than taking pictures or shooting video.

If there is only going to be one camera it should be on the back.

Come on, how many people walk around taking pictures with a tablet? Just use your phone. A front facing camera is perfect for Skype or other video chat services.

Cameras on the rear of tablets are not very praticle for taking photos. That being said, they are an extra expense and something to have to design around in a $200 7 inch tablet. It makes more sense to have the front facing camera for video chatting apps. Since the Kindle Fire runs Android, Facetime is out of the question. However, Google + has a great feature called hangouts that allow multiple people to get into one chat room and video conference. I do this with my two brothers and myself since we live in different countries. It is very useful.
