Are there any anti-virus programs that also include anti-adware benefits? I need new software but hate to buy two programs if I don't have to. I know anti-spyware is usually included.

Hey optimizz !
Welcome to PCWorld Community.
As it goes, most All-In-One security programs will offer "some" protection against anti-spyware but, you'll have to include an Real Time anti-malware
program along side it. Don't forget the Firewall as some company will only offer the Antivirus + anti-malware but, no Firewall.
The one I use currently (and have been using since it's inception) is MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials). Actually, I'm using the Pre-release version of the next Generation of this software.
It's absolutely free and works well. Light on the resources and auto updates if you have the Windows update turned on.
http://windows.micro...rity-essentials
You can download from the link above but, you can also download the pre-release version I'm on from the same page. On the Right hand side in Orange.
IF you are on Vista or Windows 7, MSE will automatically stop Windows Defender and Activate the Windows Firewall.
So, you would be completely protected.
But, as anti-malware software goes, I would also recommend having a On-Demand scanner such as :
MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware or SUPERAntiSpyware. Both are free to use for personal use.

http://www.superanti...m/download.html
Please do not use these anti-malware programs in their Real Time configuration (paid for). It will impact on the performance of MSE and other Real Time scanners.
IF you are to use any other security programs other than the current one you use, please make sure that you use their uninstall tool After uninstalling from Add-Remove (XP)
Programs & Features (Vista & 7)
You can find these uninstall tools from the author's site or from this compilation along with information on how to use them:

Before installing any other security programs, please run a full scan with one of the above mentioned manual scanners. Then , run CCleaner to make sure no residue is left behind.

Tried Malwarebytes but it showed no errors. Tried the "free" ARO 2012 and it showed thousands of errors of which it would only fix 100 w/o $29.95. In the meantime I can't visit any websites w/o their ad popping up later. I don't speak "tech" very well but I think you are saying "yes" I will need a separate program to solve this problem. I do have 64bit AMD quad core so now to research new antivirus and then anti-adware. I use my laptop for business and cannot afford any problems.

Hey optimizz!
First , can we have the name and builder of your notebook (laptop) ?
How long ago did you buy it and which Operating System (Windows XP, Vista, 7) is installed?
Which Antivirus software are you intent on changing and why?
OK, I guess you don't know the difference between a Registry Cleaner and a Anti-Virus application. That's OK,
we will have to uninstall this (what is called in the industry as ROGUE WARE or Scareware) ARO 2012. It will not
be an easy job and you will Have to follow my recommendations otherwise, you will just end up having to re-install
the OS (Operating System). It may have already done irreparable damage as it now stands.
That's because, before you installed ARO 2012, there probably were no infected files.
One question here if I may,
What do you understand as being an Antivirus application and it's functions?
I have to ask because there are certain "jobs" this application will do that other apps will not.
PLEASE. do not install any other programs before you answer my questions. Actually, try to
minimize the use of your laptop until we can figure out a way to uninstall this Rogue software.

hi, optimizz.
All modern anti-virus programs try to find and eliminate all forms of malware. It would be ridiculous to only search for viruses, because a) technically speaking, there hasn't been a new virus in years and
Of course, some programs will find more malware than others, but we no longer have to content with "This program only finds viruses and that one only finds adware."
