I don't understand why the FBI set up their own servers in the first place. If they had just shut down the rogue servers, all of the affected people would have discovered they had no internet access and would then have had to clear up the problems on their computers, just like others who get viruses or have other connectivity problems. Big deal.

@ThanhDongVo

If You Can Access The Internet Properly That Is The Only Test That You Need.

Thankfully someone was on the case and discovered the problem before it became a REAL problem.. They kept those servers running to give everyone who was infected a chance to cure it before it really knocked them off the internet. The effect was negligible and a very small percentage either didn't bother to check if they were unaffected or just didn't get the word. The threat is over for this time but I'm sure there are many out there that have so far eluded detection.

The same thing happened with conficker, and PCW is as guilty as any for taking advantage of the unnecessary panic. You know what happens when you "cry wolf" too often...

Thanks to PCW, I found out about it last month and it gave me plenty of time to test all my Old PCs and laptops.
Unlike the news media gave everyone... 1 WEEK notice! Thats a FAIL in my book.

So THANK YOU PC WORLD! :D
