So I recently bought my sweet, sweet LG 3DTV. I also recently bought a brand new gaming laptop (well, I bought them about a month apart). My question is: is there any way to get some awesome 3D gaming action going on on my 55" TV?
TV model: LG LM9600
Laptop: Asus (forgot model number, but I'll look for it if it's necessary)
geforce 670M 2 gigs VRAM
Intel core i7 (forgot model number, but it's quad-core 2.4? Ghz, I believe)
Windows 7
Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forums. As for 3D gaming on the TV, as longs as your platform supports 3D, and you have the galasses, shouldn't be a problem, just find some 3D games and you are good to go. As for the Laptop, not sure, but you will eed glasses and 3D software if it supports 3D.

It does not accept a 480Hz signal. End of story.
It also does NOT accept the 120hz signal REQUIRED for Nvidia 3d support.
Nvidia 3d requirements
Note all the Mitsubishi TV's that are listed. Sadly, this is because of a little known "checkerboard" 3d format. That format is used on DLP displays only, and is the ONLY format supported by Nvidia that does not REQUIRE a 120hz signal to be used.
The TV he bought supports HDMI 1.4Spec - including HDMI 3d. This is NOT SUPPORTED by Nvidia except in Blu-Ray content.

It will accept 3D form either a bluray player that plays 3D or a PS3 that does play 3D ( if the firmware has been upgraded.). As for the 480 Hz that is a signal enhancement for True Motion ( takes out the blur in fast action stuff ). I have an LG set myself that is 120hz, but not 3D capable.

Everything beyond Gefore 670m was unnecessary, as his laptop cannot be used for 3d gaming on that set.

Okay, so I'm not understand TOO much of the TV technical talk, but what I AM getting is that I won't be able to play 3D games from my PC, but I CAN play them from a 3D capable PS3 or Xbox game?
Maybe I'm digging my own grave here, but if a PS3 hooked up to my LG 3DTV can play 3D games... shouldn't my computer be able to as well? Is the Nvidia software the only limiting factor here? If so, is there any way around this?

The limitations are entirely on supported 3d formats. There are 4 different ways to handle a 3d signal. Nvidia supports 2 of them. Of those two, your TV supports neither.
The PS3/Xbox has no native 3d support either (AFIAK - I don't own a PS3, so can only go by what I have seen). The XBOX relies on the game manufacturer to code in the support. Sadly, this often limits the games to very sub-standard modes like Side-by-side. These modes use the standard resolution of your screen, 1920x1080, and the standard frame rates (60hz), and thus are supported by many TV's that allow these custom modes. They have the drawback of having extremely low resolutions for the 3d content though (understanding that each frame ends up being 960x1080 in resolution. Checkerboard format (supported by Nvidia) has other limitations that come with it. The Nvidia preferred method (and the only one that retains 100% quality) is the 120Hz AFR method. essentially, each eye gets 1920x1080x60hz signal the Nvidia way. The downside being that a supported display device is required.
Now, there are a few games (not many) that have Side-By-Side 3d built in. These do not rely on any particular video card, or software, or drivers. Only a TV that supports manual Side-by-Side mode.
I am sorry, but this was one of those things that takes a considerable amount of research before jumping on board. It is also the main factor in my buying a Mitsubishi 65" DLP TV. They just work. Both AMD and Nvidia support 3d on Mitsubishi TV's.
