I'm in Accra, Ghana right, and I bet this service is going to take off pretty quickly. In some parts of town, 3G is ubiquitous and reliable, but wired network connections are unstable enough that I can't consistently access sites like LinkedIn. About 85% of Ghanaians have at the very least feature phones, and 30% of those use SMS, so this is a really big market opportunity for Google.
