Hopefully we'll see this from more OEMs as well. Giving the customer an alternative to Win8 is a great idea.

I love the Idea of an alternative system to Windows. Either that or a computer without any system, I can just install what I want.

I totally believe in the future of Ubuntu. I started to work with Windows when version 2 was released. 3 years ago I made the switch to Ubuntu and I never regret it. Even better - my productivity increased enormously. I am running Ubuntu also on some laptops. Usually you get most things working in a good way (with some effort) but for sure it would be better to have a 100% working combination of hardware and software "out of the box".

I love that a major manufacturer is loading Ubuntu onto their laptops. TOO BAD IT'S DELL. I've tried Dell's support page many times, but have yet to find a solution to the wifi problem with all three of my Dell laptops. I believe that the newer ones don't have this issue, but i'm boycotting Dell due to their lack of help. All three of my laptops had a wifi card when purchased new. All of the sudden, with each laptop, the laptops just stopped detecting that they have a wrieless card installed. I have figured out that it is definitely not a software issue, or a problem with the card itself. The laptop is causing the issue. Other people have posted onto the Dell forums and support pages, requesting a solution to this problem. I found to solutions, however. JUST UNANSWERED POSTS. I want Dell to at least admit that this problem is occurring, if not help me solve it. If I can find the "On your side" thing on PCWorld's website, I suppose I can send this to them.

I work for a HS dist in AZ and we're adding 2400 Dell Latitude 2120 netbooks with Ubuntu 12 to our inventory this year. We deployed 3600 Asus netbooks last year and have reimaged them with Ubuntu 12 also. Ubuntu's documentation is superb and one of the reasons we chose that OS. It is easy to work with and is efficient with sys resources. I question how well it will do in the marketplace however. Time will tell but Ubuntu is definitely ready for prime time.

I need it NOW! I need it tomorrow! There isn't one computer in Best Buy that will run the program I need for my job.

Why are comment automatically set to "Oldest First" when I prefer to see the most recent and therefore have to click "Newest First"?

I expect this would be released within 2 months, as I don't think they would want to release a 12.04 laptop after 12.10 is released. Of course, 12.04 is an LTS release, but still…

I think we will see more Linux laptops coming soon, as people would want alternatives that are better than the controversial Windows 8 but are less expensive than Macs.

Gee! At last a GOOD model for carrying Linux, Dell!
And LTS Ubuntu looks a very good choice (although you have many other solid and pretty distributions). Wish you success.
