From Question "Why does my new monitor randomly go blank when I plug in an HDMI cable"

"This problem occasionally crops up when an HDMI cable fails to sync up correctly with your display port".

How is it even possible to plug an HDMI cable into a Display Port socket? Aren't these 2 physically different connections?

What I want to know is why can't a notification of some sort popup when the booting process is finishing saying READY? I presume it is because I am from Mars - because everything I think which makes sense, hasn't even occurred to anyone else on Earth.

What does the *#+%$* escape button on the keyboard really do? Is it purely ornamental.. like nipples on men .. or clitorises on some women? Why is it so *%$%#* useless?

It isn't useless if you know how to use it:

It does. It is refered to as the "login" screen, and it waits there for you to enter your credentials. Of course you can set your PC to automatically use a set of default credentials and proceed directly to the Desktop of that user and then it waits for you there. I suppose if you wanted to you could have it send a text msg to your smart phone at that point if you wanted. But you'd have to set that up yourself.

to ml strand 56: Its simple on a lot of newer video mcards you have the option of using hdmi or vga to connect to your monitor and if your monitor has the capabilities to accept such a connection then voila, i just bought this computer and it has a rather cheap card but its capable of hdmi outpu
t and am using my tv as a monitor so thats the best way to connect them.

WTF. So one more way the rotten and corrupt content industries screw things up is by forcing added complexity onto HDMI cables, ie one more thing to break.

'You have to restart your computer because, even though you might be totally innocent, even if you never watch movies, Big Content demands you must abide by their stupid rules.'

Bury these bastards. They haven't seen a dime from me in a decade. Your time is better spent reading books and playing with loved ones.

"That's why you can't use the Windows Easy Transfer utility to move files and applications between 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows"
****************************

I beg to differ. I moved from XP 32 Bit to Win 7 64 Bit, and I used the WET utility, which worked perfectly.

UEFI's firmware is also Microsoft's way of locking all OS's. Also ISP will require a "Secure Boot" to use their services. It has no other purpose.

If you can afford an IPS, there is absolutely no reason to stick with a crummy TN screen. And IPSs have been widely used by Dell and HP for several years; I have three of them.

I'm unsubscribing, can't take anymore multipage topics. When you all can do single pages, I'll resubscribe.(Not like one person matters anyways, I'm sure)

USB 2.0 has a throughput of 460 megabits per second but I haven't found a memory stick or external drive that can even approach that speed. Rather than creating a new faster standard in USB 3.0, why not concentrate on peripherals which can utilize the current USB 2.0 rate?
