I have installed some software in XP Mode (Within Windows 7) successfully. The software transmits to and receives data from an external piece of equipment which is connected by a USB-UART bridge. Drivers successfully installed in both OS's. I attached the device within XP Mode and 5 minutes later the connection is lost and W7 has recaptured the USB port. Anybody had this problem, or could you suggest any solutions?

I have switched off power saving mode, plus a multitude of other things. Losing the will to live with this problem!

XP Mode doesn't work on consumer Windows 7 editions. It needs a CPU with hardware VT support. It's not consumer-friendly - mostly for techies.

This problem would not have encountered if you would have Windows XP in Professional mode as it is specially designed for the business edition and for tech experts it would be helpful.

Try this

In XP Mode pull down the Tools menu and click Enable Integration Features. After it installs and reboots, there will be a USB menu item that let's you attach devices on you Win7 USB ports.
