This sounds like a dream come true... but will data bandwidth be reduced while charging?

Pretty sure on USB that there are 2 channels for data and one positive and one ground, so transfer rates shouldn't be affected at all.

One cable to charge everything...

How many times do you think this story has been printed in the last 5 years?

Go for it - I've seen this with cellphones and it's been great not having to worry about not having the right charger when someone needs one.

Good luck getting Apple to use this standard.

I'm not getting what this would be a step forward. Charging via USB would mean the USB cables would have to get as thick as the current power supply cords. How does this help?

Only my opinion: It's more important to make the ENDs of the cable same port. It matters little when cable is a little bit fatter.

LMAO! Apple, who have gone for near a decade with a single, readily available connector are the bad guys, sure. How many connectors have any of their rivals gone through in that time? "Bah - Apple use proprietary connectors, that sucks. Only some of the last five cable types I had to switch to were proprietary - win!"
If I dispute one single point in a post, that should not be taken as an indication that I agree/disagree with any other point made by that poster or anyone else in the thread. Or anywhere else. Ever.
