I recently bought a LiteOn BluRay DVD writer model no. iHES212 BD Combo from local PC World store, It installs ok and appears to Windows7 Pro SP1 64bit as a BD-Rom drive. I'm using Verbatim BD-RE Rewritable and BD-R Recordable discs, but each is reported as being Write Protected when I try to format, after previously having tried to burn to them using Nero.
As advised in various internet threads, I've tried adding the Qword key, labelled 'WriteProtect', into System>CurrentControlSet>Control>StorageDevicePolicies, value set to 0x00000000, but to no avail - the discs are still unusable. Any advice will be much appreciated.

I just did come quick research and it appears that you purchased a BD "combo" drive, which reads/writes to DVD but only READS blu ray. That's why your discs won't work.

As noted by compnovo, the model that corresponds to the model number you provided only records STANDARD DVDs. It will only READ BluRay discs...it will not WRITE to them. Thus, if you do want to write/burn BluRay discs, then you will have to see if you can return the drive and get a BluRay burner drive.

And in case you did not realize, this is a website for PCWorld the US computer magazine, not PCWorld the UK computer store. If you were actually trying to get to the PCWorld the UK computer store website, then this is their website: http://www.pcworld.c...gbuk/index.html
